William spoke to Ronan about what Thyssenkrupp Elevator do, how IoT is revolutionising what Thyssenkrupp are doing, how they are using Microsoft HoloLens, and where IoT is heading over the next few years.

Irish Tech news will be doing some Podcasts at the IoT conference which starts today in the CCD and to kick things off, Ronan talks to Joanna Hearne the co-founder of HaySaver an Irish IoT start-up aimed at farmers. Joanna talks to Ronan about how long Haysaver have been going, what HaySaver do, how it works and their plans for the next 5 years Joanna also mentions the costs involved for customers, who their competitors are, that they are pitching for Launchpad next week and that they will be attending IoT World.

Amazon and Writing.ie are holding a daylong author event tomorrow in the Davenport Hotel in Dublin, and Ronan caught up with Darren Hardy, the UK manager for Kindle direct publishing. Darren spoke to Ronan about the event tomorrow, the costs involved in uploading and publishing your book, is the amount of pages in your book important, how to get your book noticed, and how your cover artwork matters.

Brexit is something just won’t go away and it also makes an excellent Podcast topic. On this Brexit round table discussion Ronan was joined by Ian Lucey, founder of the Lucey Fund, Matt Smith, CEO Startup Britain and Max Yoshioka, Lead Researcher at the UK Center for Entrepreneurs. We discussed what challenges Brexit brings to Ireland especially in the Startup scene, why Chinese investors are coming to Ireland, how the UK will cope with Brexit, how we will compete with new proposed corporate tax rates in the UK and America and what lessons we can learn from the UK Startup scene.

Last week Harvey Nash released their 2017 tech survey and Ronan spoke to Gavin Fox head of practice for Harvey Nash about the survey. Gavin talks about what the Harvey Nash survey found, why companies are moving towards a devops environment, what roles will be automated, how secure this new automated environment will be. Gavin also mentioned what we need to do If we are to remain competitive as country.

Ronan met Andrew at last years web summit and he caught up with him and Alexander when they launched their new Dublin offices. They mentioned that they are hiring more people, Wrike’s plans for the next five years, and plugins for Wrike that will allow you to adapt it according to your needs. Andrew also mentioned that BYOA bring your own application to the enterprise is getting very popular now and how SaS products like Wrike are now seen as Digital business operating systems.

Last week security software giant Sophos bought the Irish company Barricade and Ronan spoke to Bill Lucchini Senior Vice president of the Cloud Security Group at Sophos and David Coallier CEO at Barricade. Bill explains why Sophos is going into the Irish Market with the purchase of Barricade, how AI and Machine Learning will become integral to Sophos, and the biggest threats that Sophos are worried about. David talks about the background of Barricacde, and why they are a good fit for Sophos.
