The challenges of making gin on an island, Ireland's first offshore distillery, 3 SQ. Miles gin
We chat with Seamus Ó Drisceoil from Cape Clear, Ireland’s only Island Distillery, about the challenges and opportunities of making gin on an island off the south west coast of Ireland.
https://www.capecleardistillery.com/our-gin/
3 SQ. MILES gin is a handcrafted, dry Irish Gin of superior clarity made from juniper, island botanicals, and citrus flavours. A clear, cool, refreshing drink when mixed with your favourite tonic or other mixers and served with ice.
The unique set of botanicals include laminaria digitata, a seaweed harvested from our own shores, complimented by island-harvested fuchsia and honeysuckle.
The fresh notes are evocative of the brisk Atlantic sea air, and the wild unspoilt flora that define Oileán Chléire.
Táimid cheana féin ag fás aitil dúchasach san oileán. Beidh cuid eile des na luibheanna a úsáidfear fásta sna tolláin ar an láthair agus beidh cinn eile fós bainte mór thimpeall an oileáin.
Seo é an chéad ginéive as cósta Iarthair Chorcaí agus cuirfidh sé le traidisiún agus cáil bia agus dí an cheantair. Is féidir roinnt des na plandaí aitil seo a fheiceáil lasmuigh dhon doras.

The importance of plants and biodiversity for musician Michael Prime
Fascinating interview with Michael Prime, bioelectrical composer, filmmaker, botanist, ecologist.
We take a walk around his unique gardens on Cape Clear Island. Here he has collected and nurtured plants from all over the world, often now endangered in their natural habitats. Michael is of course also well known for his long and successful musical career and we aim to analyse the cross fertilisation between these two deep passions of his.
Since 1987, he has used of bioactivity translators to amplify the electrical activity of plants and fungi. This has been central to much of his work. Through the medium of sound, listeners are able to enter and interact with the transient world of plant reactions.
