Christopher Joye is well-known as one of Australia’s leading economists, policy advisors and fund managers. He is the Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager at Coolabah Capital Investments.Christopher founded Coolabah Capital in 2011 and leads the portfolio management effort that has produced one of Australia’s top short-term fixed-interest capabilities. Christopher is also a Contributing Editor with The Australian Financial Review. Christopher previously worked for Goldman Sachs in London and Sydney, the Reserve Bank of Australia, and was the founder of an award‐winning research and investment group, Rismark International. Afterpay (ASX: APT) has captured the imagination of every Australian investor recently. Up more than 700% since the depths of COVID in March, it is leading a collection of Buy Now, Pay Later stocks that have seen unbelievable returns over the past few months.The company recently released a share purchase plan (aka capital raising) to the market - selling shares at $66 per share. Way back when we started Equity Mates we also started a hypothetical portfolio. We would add a new stock each week/month, but as we got busier, we put it on the sidelines.In this episode we revive the hypothetical portfolio. It's been sitting there, untouched, since 2017, which is why you will see some questionable stocks in there, as well as some that have done very well.
