Too Late and Too Far (S5E35)

Does Life Feel Like It's Too Late and Too Far?A few years ago, our granddaughter Scarlett started pre-school. At the end of her first day, Lisa (who Scarlett calls 'Missy') was FaceTime-ing with her to see how her day went. Lisa said, "Scarlett, tell Missy all about your first day of school."Scarlett had had a long day. She was very tired, and she wanted to go to sleep. She looked into the camera, held up her hand, and said, "No Missy. It's too late and too far."That's all Scarlett had to say. Too late and too far.Have you ever had a day like that?Sometimes, it seems like our whole life is too late and too far. It's too much, too hard, too expensive, too painful. We can't bring ourselves to face it, or even talk about it, because it's too late and too far.Fortunately, Scarlett got a good night's sleep and the next day she was great, ready for another day at school. But in life, sometimes a little rest isn't enough to fix whatever it is that has us feeling like it's too late and too far. If you're in a situation like that: the marriage is too far gone, the payments are too late, the tumor is too invasive, the stress is too much, I want to encourage you. It's not too late, and it's not too far. Circumstances in life can really be difficult. Life can be a war, even when you're not in an actual war. But you can be at peace anyway. To the tired, Jesus said: "Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)To the weak, God promised: "I can be content in any and every situation through the Anointed One who is my power and strength." (Philippians 4:13)To those worried about their government, or their country's future, God said: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14)Also check out Romans 8:37-39 and Psalm 139:7-10Here's the thing: You can be at rest, at peace, happy, and even joyful regardless of the circumstances of your life. God's on your side, and His promises are always there for the taking to make sure we can enjoy the life He's given us, even when it's hard. It's not too late or too far, friend. You just have to start today. Music by North Point WorshipSign up for my Substack letter here.(Music shared on The Dr. Lee Warren Podcast is authorized under BMI license #61063253 and ASCAP license #400010513 ) Go to my website www.wleewarrenmd.com for more information about my letter, this show, my books, and more. John to Know, James to Grow bible study This is a public episode. Self-Brain Surgery: Streaks and Getting Up Again (S5E33)

Self-brain surgery tip #17The best way to stay motivated and achieve your goals is to stop saying you “want” to do something. Decide something you “will” or “must” do, and do that thing. The Shape of Our Words (S5E29)

What Does the Bible Say About What We Say?Some thoughts on the wisdom of looking at the waveforms.Scriptures MentionedProverbs 10:19 (AMP) When there are many words, transgression and offense are unavoidable, But he who controls his lips and keeps thoughtful silence is wise.Proverbs 11:9 “Evil words destroy one’s friends; wise discernment rescues the godly.Proverbs 15:4 “Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”Proverbs 16:24 “Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”Proverbs 18:4 “A person’s words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook.”Proverbs 12:18 “There is one who speaks rashly like he thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”Proverbs 25:18 “Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.”Luke 6:43-45 “For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”Proverbs 21:23 “Whosoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.”James 3:5 “In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.”James 1:26 “If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.”Proverbs 17:18 “Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.”Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”Romans 14:12 “So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.”Matthew 12:36 “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an account for it in the day of judgement.”Great article with all these verses and more, by Ashley EvansMusic by Tommy WalkerSign up for my Substack letter here.(Music shared on The Dr. Lee Warren Podcast is authorized under BMI license #61063253 and ASCAP license #400010513 ) Go to my website www.wleewarrenmd.com for more information about my letter, this show, my books, and more. John to Know, James to Grow bible study   This is a public episode.
