The Outrage Cycle - Mark Manson | After Skool
The Outrage Cycle - Mark Manson
In this episode of After Skool, Mark Manson explains the Outrage Cycle, a wave of reactions that predictably follow any major event. In our social media age, the most extreme reaction is often the one that gets the most attention. This incentive fuels the outrage machine. When a major event happens, there is an initial viral wave, followed by a reactionary viral wave, followed by an anti-reactionary viral wave. Once these 3 waves play out, people's attention moves on to the next event, and the cycle repeats itself. To learn more about these ideas, visit https://markmanson.net/ and please subscribe to Mark Manson's youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@IAmMarkMansonMusic by: Caleb Winters https://www.calebwinters.ca/

A Lack of Resources is NOT Your Problem - Tony Robbins | After Skool
A Lack of Resources is NOT Your Problem - Tony Robbins
Tony Robbins is an author, motivational speaker and life coach. He explains that most people believe they can't do something because of a lack of resources. They don't accomplish their goal because they don't have enough money, enough time, enough ability, etc. The most successful people don't achieve their success because resources are handed to them, they achieve success because they are RESOURCEFUL. Resourcefulness is the ultimate resource. In order to be resourceful, you must master your emotions. How Feedback Affects Performance - Andrew Huberman - Growth Mindset | After Skool
How Feedback Affects Performance - Andrew Huberman - Growth Mindset
Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology, and by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. He has made numerous significant contributions to the fields of brain development, brain function and neural plasticity, which is the ability of our nervous system to rewire and learn new behaviors, skills and cognitive functioning.Huberman is a McKnight Foundation and Pew Foundation Fellow and was awarded the Cogan Award in 2017, given to the scientist making the most significant discoveries in the study of vision. His laboratory's most recent work focuses on the influence of vision and respiration on brain states such as fear and high attention focus and developing rapid and effective tools for mitigating stress, improving sleep, and other physiological metrics. The Huberman Laboratory at Stanford School of Medicine has published work in top journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell, and top media outlets like TIME, BBC, Scientific American, and Discover. In 2021, Dr. Huberman launched the Huberman Lab podcast. The podcast is often ranked in the global top 10. It is often ranked #1 in Science, Education, and Health and Fitness. In this video, Dr. Andrew Huberman explains Growth Mindset and how feedback affects performance. Feedback that is linked to identity (smart, talented, athletic) are actually detrimental to performance. Feedback that is linked to effort (you are so persistent, you never give up) enhances performance because it rewards the effort rather than the identity. This research is from Dr. Carol S. Dweck, an American psychologist who holds the Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professorship of Psychology at Stanford University.Listen to Dr. Andrew Huberman's full presentation on Growth Mindset https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQDOU3hPci0&t=4074sSubscribe to the Huberman Lab Podcast https://www.youtube.com/@UC2D2CMWXMOVWx7giW1n3LIg And please subscribe to After Skool for more insightful animations. To support future animations https://www.patreon.com/AfterSkool

It is Impossible to Tell If Anything is Good or Bad - Alan Watts | After Skool
It is Impossible to Tell If Anything is Good or Bad - Alan Watts
The Story of the Chinese Farmer told by Alan Watts. Many things happen in life they may seem terrible in the moment. You lost your job, you got dumped, you didn't get into the right school, etc. However, later on that event, which seemed so bad, turned out to change your life course and lead you to something positive. It is impossible to tell if anything that happens is "good" or "bad". They key is to flow like water through rocks. Be adaptive, especially to events that are outside of your control. Don't get hung up on any one thing. Many of the most successful people credit their lowest failures for their ultimate success. Sometimes it takes a very negative event to push us to make a positive change. If you want to help us keep this channel running please consider supporting After Skool on Patreon.
