Teresa Morrow sits in as host and talks to Tom about his 40 year career mixing some of the greatest american films ever made including Serpico, Silence of The Lambs, Goodfellas, Hugo (for which he won an Oscar), Reds and any more. Tom is an engaging storyteller whose love for making movies inspires everyone he comes into contact with.

Paul and Rene sit down and discuss the new Sound Devices mixpre 3 and 6, and they wax philosophical about the thought process you go through when buying and learning new gear.

Finally Gordon Hempton graces us with a reading from his newest book "Earth Is A Solar Powered Jukebox". We also review a great book for young kids (ages 3-6) called "Do You Hear What I Hear" that teaches them how to think about the sounds around them.

In this episode we pass the podcast over to George Vlad and Daan Hendricks who tell us all about their trip to a field recording workshop in Mmabolela Reserve, Limpopo, South Africa. They discuss everything from the planning and preparations, getting from their homes in Europe to this remote location, and the gear they used (and how it held up in the extreme weather conditions). They also reminisce on the impressions the trip has left on their lives. All with fantastic examples of the sounds they recorded while there.

He talks about what it is like to work with great directors (Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, Lee Daniels, Jim Jarmusch), how the industry in NYC has changed in recent years, and lots more. This is a man who has seen it all in this industry and has great stories to tell.

In this episode we talk with Steve Bissinger about his career, how he ended up at Skywalker Ranch, and the new film In Pursuit of Silence. The film is unlike anything you have ever seen and presented a lot of unique sound challenges. As Sound Supervisor on the project, Steve walks us through how this film is different than his main gig on the Netflix series House of Cards and the upcoming MindHunter series.
