How to get a jumpstart on supply chain digitisation - a chat with Anu Shah

Send me a messageOn this week's episode of the podcast I invited Anu Shah to join the podcast to talk about one of SAP's initiatives to help our customers on their supply chain digitisation journeys. The JumpStart initiative is a program to enable customers to get a quick start on their digitisation projects  by identifying a discrete supply chain function, such as planning which could inordinately increase resilience, and allowing customers digitise that.Anu referred to a couple of McKinsey reports in the podcast and they are: “US Food Supply Chain: Disruptions and implications from COVID-19”, June 2020And the 93% McKinsey quote was published in “Raconteur”Anu also referred to Index Werke's digitisation journey - that is written up here, and my podcast a few weeks ago with Indes Werke's Katharina Piesche on that topic is here. You can find more information on this program and our offerings here and information about SAP Design to Operate or about SAP Digital Supply Chain is here. This was a really interesting episode of the podcast. The shift to Product as a Service - a chat with me, Tom Raftery!

Send me a messageA scheduling snafu meant that I was without a guest for this episode today, so I did what any good podcast host does in this situation, I stepped in and filled the breach myself!I normally prefer to let my guests shine on this podcast, showing off their expertise while I stay mostly quiet, throwing in the occasional question from time to time. Obviously this time, that wasn't a possibility, so I riffed on the global shift we are seeing to Product as a Service - what it is, why it is happening, and why it is a win, win, win (for the manufacturer, the customer, and the planet).I finished referencing the automotive industry, and drawing from a recent Forbes article I wrote called the iPhonification of the Auto Industry, which speaks a lot to this and other related topics. Worth a look if you are interested and have a few spare cycles. If you have any comments/suggestions or questions for the podcast - feel free to leave me a voice message over on my SpeakPipe page or just send it to me as a direct message on Twitter/LinkedIn. The supply chain challenges of vaccinating 8bn people: Part 2 - a chat with Chris Roediger

Send me a messageThis is the second of my two part podcast series on the challenges of vaccinating everyone against Covid-19. If you missed episode one with Alina Gross, you can check it out here. Background - in August a colleague of mine Alina Gross (@gross_alinaa on Twitter) penned an excellent in-depth piece of Forbes titled The Next Supply Chain Challenge: How To Vaccinate The World. I was reminded of that recently when Pfizer and BioNTech announced the successful results of their vaccine trials. A couple of days later I was made aware that SAP announced its Vaccine Collaboration Hub (VCH) to address many of the challenges highlighted in Alina's article. I reached out to Alina, and members of the VCH team to see if they'd come on the podcast to discuss this unique supply chain challenge, and they agreed, so here we are. In this episode Chris Roediger talks about how SAP's Vaccine Collaboration Hub is addressing many of the issues facing the successful rollout of a vaccine to the world's nearly 8 billion people. This was a really interesting episode of the podcast.
