We will be showing you how we blend the burgers, make a spicy hemp sauce, how we use the dehydrator for them, talk about toppings and how we cut the iceberg lettuce to make the burger bun. BURGER RECIPE (makes 6-9 burger patties depending on how large and thick you make them):
2 pitted medjool dates (50g)
1.5 cups chopped fresh pumpkin (200g)
1 cup chopped carrot (130g)
1/2 cup chopped radish (60gm)
1/2 cup sun dried tomato
1 small sweet onion (150g)
1/4 cup fresh parsley
1/4 cup raw pumpkin seeds
3 cloves of garlic
2 tbsp fresh rosemary (save a sprig for decoration if you like)
1 tbsp miso paste (optional)
1 tbsp psyllium husk
1 tbsp whole chia seeds
1 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp mustard powder
1/2 tsp ground clove
1/2 tsp marjoram
1/2 tsp ground sage
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp cinnamon
SPICY HEMP SAUCE RECIPE:
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup hemp seeds
4 pitted medjool dates
2 cloves of garlic
2 red hot Thai chilies (optional - use less or none depending on your spice tolerance)
1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional - to give it a cheesy flavor)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp miso paste (optional)
1 jalapeno (take out the seeds and pith for less spice or use only half the jalapeno)
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp mustard powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or start with 1/8 if you don't like it too spicy)
Water to consistency (start with 1/4 or 1/2 cup and only add more if you want it thinner)
FILLINGS
You need a head of iceberg lettuce for the bun
Fill with whatever you like! We will be using:
Sliced tomato
Sliced red onion
Sliced radishes
Microgreens
Fermented pickles
Ribboned cucumber

Anna is the founder of Jenna and Friends Animal Sanctuary (JAFAS), a small microsanctuary for rescued pigs and roosters in Chapel Hill, NC. Her mission is threefold: (1) provide a loving and safe forever home for farm animals in need, (2) serve as an example for others who want to start a small animal rescue in their community with little-to-no funding, and (3) educate the community through events and social media about the plight of pigs who suffer the consequences of the breeding and food industries.
Since she started the sanctuary over eight years ago, Anna continues to carry out her mission by fostering several community partnerships. In addition to the healthy home-cooked food that she prepares for the animals, Anna receives food donations from local grocery co-ops, garden centers, breweries, and restaurants. She works with students in the UNC School of Journalism to create projects that inform and educate the public about factory farming and the need for more microsanctuaries. She also partners with a UNC animal rights organization called Vegans for Peace to expose the community to ethical food choices that promote good health, a safe environment, and respect for animals.
Anna works a full-time job as a technical writer in corporate America to pay for expenses at the sanctuary, but she also welcomes donations on her website to help fund her important mission. She’s also using her writing skills to create a children’s book about the animals and all their whimsical shenanigans at the farm.
Anna gives tours of the sanctuary on the weekends and welcomes volunteers throughout the week. You can learn more about Anna in her blog.

An imaging guided surgeon (interventional radiologist) & neuroradiologist, author of nutrition, medical & study skills books, Peter Rogers MD is the "Spartan Vegan."
In college he was student athlete of the year at Stanford. Graduated 1st in medical school class.
Dr. Rogers works as neuroradiologist, but also did fellowship imaging guided surgery (interventional radiology) at Harvard. He got fat in 30's and learned his way out. He was one of best medical students in USA in biochemistry and tries to understand pathophysiology. Has written a books about nutrition & study skills including "How to improve blood flow," "Hot topics in nutrition," "Straight A at Stanford & on to Harvard," "How to raise IQ, & become a genius."
Stanford university student athlete of the year, 1985. University of Illinois medical school award for best male medical student in class; best student in pathology; highest board scores in class of 333 students; biochemistry score 780/800, possibly the highest in the USA (biochem is the most difficult subject in medical school). Biochem is “considered” to include nutrition. Residency at Northwestern with 99% board scores. Fellowship in interventional radiology (imaging guided surgery) at Harvard. Fellowship in neuroradiology at Rush.
Author of multiple books about nutrition, reducing risk of disease, and study skills. Discovered almost all the major medical textbooks are 50-100 years out of date, and often, completely wrong. Secret desire #1 = to become a nutrition doctor, but can’t, because there’s no money in it. Secret desire #2 = to rewrite the major medical textbooks, but can’t, because there’s no money in it. The shocking truth is that most medical textbooks are essentially worthless, because they do no include nutrition, and most disease is caused by poor nutrition.

Warm Curried Tomato Bisque with Air-Fried Tofu and Rice
Recipes:
Tomato Bisque:
Ingredients:
8 Roma tomatoes
2 cups tomato juice
2 cups steamed cauliflower
1/4 cup diced red onion
1 Tbs minced garlic
1 Tbs minced fresh ginger
2 diced jalapeños (seeds removed)
2 Tbs curry powder
2 Tbs nutritional yeast
2 Tbs vegetable stock
Instructions: In a pot, sauté onions, ginger, garlic, and jalapeños with a small amount of vegetable stock and curry powder until soft and fragrant, then add tomato juice. Add tomatoes and bring to a simmer, stir in the nutritional yeast along with the steamed cauliflower and return to a simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and using blender, blend until smooth.
Air Fried Tofu:
Cut tofu into 1 inch square pieces, place on parchment paper and air fry at 400 for 20 minutes.

Jeremy LaLonde lost half his body weight eating whatever he wants! He is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker whose work has travelled the globe, but what he's most proud of is going WFPB and losing half his body weight and setting his health in the right direction for the first time in his life.
Having lost 160 pounds Jeremy lost the weight through a lot of struggle, trial and error, but ultimately through eating whole food plant-based and striking his own path. Since then he's been featured in Forks Over Knives and has his own Bell Fibe television series showing off his recipes and visits to plant-based businesses in Canada.
