Back to back hurricanes hitting the mainland of the United States has raised concerns, and arguments, over whether or not the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has enough relief funds to help those in desperate need. Millions are still trying to recover from Hurricane Helene, which laid a path of destruction from Florida to North Carolina, and now Floridians are facing a very dangerous Hurricane Milton expected to have record storm surge. This issue of disaster relief is an issue being used by both parties just weeks before the election. With less than four weeks until the 2024 election, one that could be the closest presidential election in the nation's history, there are worries that voters in the Southeast impacted by Hurricane Helene may not be able to cast their ballots. In western North Carolina, polling places have been damaged and, in some cases, destroyed, which raises the question: Where will voters vote on Election Day? Executive Director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections Karen Brinson Bell joins the Rundown to discuss how North Carolina is planning to get all voters to the polls, how their state election laws prepared them for this type of situation, and what can be expected on election night in the state.Hurricane Milton is closing in on Florida less than two weeks after Helene devastated much of the state. Florida's West Coast is bracing for the impact of Hurricane Milton which may have been downgraded to a Category 4 hurricane but has all officials and residents very worried. The greatest fear, besides high winds, is a possible new record storm surge which could reach fifteen feet high. Milton is expected to make landfall near Tampa Bay late Wednesday or very early Thursday. Today marks one year since the Hamas terror attacks on Israel that left over 1200 dead, and hundreds of others taken hostage. Throughout the 12 months since the attacks, Israel has worked to root out Hamas terrorists in Gaza and has moved into Lebanon to neutralize the Iranian proxy group Hezbollah.
