President Biden signed an executive order on Tuesday that aims to limit the number of illegal migrants crossing the border. The executive action would restrict migrants from seeking asylum when the average number of encounters exceeds 2,500, which is a number that has been regularly exceeded at the border in recent months. Republican lawmakers criticized the President, saying that he had the power to do this throughout his entire presidency but only chose to do so near the end of his term, coinciding with a sharp drop in the polls.
