Trump Rally Shooting: The Search For Accountability
Questions remain surrounding the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. While it seems some media outlets have moved past the tragic event, Congress has pushed forward with a bipartisan task force investigating the failures that occurred on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. While a motive for the shooting remains unclear, the focus has turned to the Secret Service's actions and inability to secure the perimeter of the presidential candidate's rally. Head of the Congressional task force Congressman Mike Kelly (R-PA-16) joins the Rundown to discuss what it was like being present at the rally where former President Trump was nearly killed, what answers the task force is looking for, and what can be done to prevent something like this in the future.We’re still paying more for food, housing, and other basic things, but inflation is coming back down. For the first time in over three years, the annual rate of consumer price increase is under three percent. The Ukraine military continues to take ground inside of Russia using missiles and drones in the first invasion of Russian territory since World War II. Russia has been forced to move army units, drone teams and artillery into the Kursk region in order to repel the incursion. Ukraine’s top military commander says his forces have captured over three hundred fifty miles of Russian territory and Putin has vowed to deliver a 'worthy response.' Are Foreign Actors Hacking Our Democracy?
Over the weekend, an anonymous hacker sent internal Trump campaign documents to POLITICO and the Washington Post. The campaign says the documents received by the reporters were obtained illegally by Iran. However, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. In June, Biden campaign staffers received spear phishing emails. Evening Edition: Israel Braces For Iranian Retaliation And Wider War
Israel is on high alert for a retaliatory strike by Iran in response to two assassinations of terror leaders in Hamas and Hezbollah. There are fears Iran will launch a larger attack than the last one in April which included more than three hundred ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. Also, Hamas said that a hostage was killed and two additional female hostages were injured by their operatives but the IDF says they do not have any information to refute or confirm the claims. A story nearly 23 years in the making: the controversial plea deal for the September 11th terror suspects was offered over a week ago by a U.S. prosecutor, then accepted by three detainees accused of plotting the attacks, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind behind hijacking airplanes. That plea deal upset some 9/11 victims' families for taking the death penalty off the table for those suspects. Two days later, that deal was voided by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
