441.5: How to change a system you don't like
How cool is this – our (AI) friends at Notebook.LM made this Deep Dive about my idea for changing systems that we don't like!* Before we jump in: Coming up in September/October I am offering an entire six-week virtual workshop adventure on changing systems we don't like! Details below or click here.A few weeks ago I wrote an article at Pathfinders.social on this very topic, how to change a system that we don't like. Today you'll hear our friends talk about this method and how to make it work for you, if there is a system or systems that you'd like to change.I sure had fun playing with this AI technology. Somewhere in the middle you'll hear one of the hosts' voices adopt an Australian accent! I have no idea how that happened but it did make me laugh.I've learned that AI can be fun and playful. I know not everyone feels this way. Which is why it feels important to say: unless I say differently, as I'm doing today, all the content you read and hear and see here is human made including the art. So I invite you to relax into this one and give yourself permission to consider: are there systems you wish were different? What we talk about here today is a sustainable way to do that.Enjoy!I am offering an entire virtual workshop around this concept… Here are the deets! How to Change a System You Don’t LikeCome along on a transformative six-week journey designed for those daring folks ready to see something different and better. This online workshop empowers you to envision and create systems that are actually good! S3E10: My first 5-figure art commission! Taking you into how it came about
Hello friends! Settle in for a story! I'm taking you into an exciting development in my life as an artist: my first five-figure art commission.Listen for the story.. here in these show notes I'll give you: The brief answers to the questions I've been asked about thisThe five-step plan through which I brought it about. Before we jump in: Consider subscribing to this newsletter so that it shows up in your inbox, instead of you having to go search for it :)Questions I’ve Been AskedOkay! Here are the answers to the questions:1. Was this a scam? – No :) Instead of a scam the creation of this yuge art commission was an example of trust and commitment.2. How did you do this? How did you bring it about – did you advertise? Was it word-of-mouth? – The majority of today's episode is the story of how it happened. So I'll allow you to listen and enjoy that!It can be summed up in the following five points, so read on for the quickie version:How I Brought This About1. I cultivated creative enjoyment every day. For at least an hour at first, and then early this year I upped that to two hours per day of creative enjoyment.2. I asked. I mean this in a cosmic sense. I was open to the possibilities without understanding exactly how everything would happen, just knowing that something fun would happen. It always does!3. I gave and received trust "for no reason." I did this because generosity, enjoyment and trust are my defaults. They also happen to be wonderful in a professional, creative sense because people enjoy doing business with people they trust.4. I brought Kindhearted Purposeful Leadership – and commitment – to the process of envisioning and negotiating this commission. Click here to see the LinkedIn profile of my dear colleague and leadership partner in crime, Dr. Patricia Burlaud.5. Same as the first… I cultivated the daily practice of enjoyment. And that's your challenge. See below!Your Creative Challenge.. cultivate at least one hour each day this week of creative enjoyment. This is enjoyment where you're in solitude and you are not consuming but creating. Can be writing or art; can be cooking or dancing; can be walking or hiking or taking a bath or lying in a favorite spot looking out at the sky.Be bold and give yourself this gift! Remember… If I can do it, literally anyone can do it. :)Thank you for being here! Listening in today, and in the cosmic sense. S3E9: Aligning Creativity with Our Values
Back when I did not have a clear understanding of the values that I held most dear, it's no coincidence that I didn't feel like a creator. It turns out: one of my most deeply held values is Freedom. I was not giving myself permission to feel like a creator. How do your most deeply held values align with your self, and your view of yourself as a creator?Today I'm taking you into an exercise that's helpful in those times when you feel like you could use a compass to stay centered amidst the disruption. Best of all – you provide the compass! It's in you.In the today's newsletter I share an exercise in two parts/2 questions:1. What are your (3 to 5) most deeply held values? What's most important to you, when are you at your most joyful? If it's challenging articulating your values… They'll show up in your responses to those two questions.2. How does what you create align with your values?I'd love to hear! Please feel free to share in the comments of this post or, if this shows up directly in your inbox, you can hit reply and write right back :)What I'm CreatingThis coming Thursday 29th of May I am offering a Tarot for Coaches Workshop! For years, I have used tarot cards in my coaching practice. 439: How it feels to be a millionaire
Hello dear friends! I'm excited to share my conversation with a beloved coaching colleague, Heather Egginton. Heather joins us to discuss how it feels to be a millionaire! Recently, Heather's net worth topped $1 million. We discuss how that intersects with her feelings of worth inside herself. It's a fascinating conversation and Heather brings curiosity herself, inviting me to share about how I came to be writing a book about how it feels to be a millionaire. So for part of our conversation interviewer becomes interviewee! This conversation will show up in your inbox (if you're subscribed to this publication) or listen in your favorite podcast app! We'll return to the last few editions of season two's newsletter, about staying creative in disruptive times, next week.Happy Tuesday!About This SeriesThis is a podcast series within Art Creativity & Wellbeing and one that I'm excited to share. It's also research for my forthcoming book, How It Feels to be a Millionaire. I've become curious, as I've grown in this way myself, to understand how “worth” and “net worth”intersect for people living in our modern world.Sometimes millionaires do not feel like a million bucks.. Sometimes non-millionaires do. So, what are the commonalities and challenges? What is there to be learned here about myself, my fellow humans and our world? I'm excited to discover - and share - the answers and I know one thing, conversations like today's are an important part of how we get there. Joyfully so!What I’m Up ToInstagram Live Storytime throughout MayMay 1, 2023 was the day I got on an airplane and flew to England to begin my solo cross-country hike of the Coast to Coast path!I'm celebrating that all this month by reading to you from my memoir about this journey, Waking Up!The times are varying, and you can see when I'll be going live next in each Instagram live post in my Instagram feed @weturnedoutokay .Production Note – While there are swears in the book I am keeping these Instagram lives safe for work and sensitive ears – see you there!New Art Available in My Store"I keep your painting on the shelf with my mom['s ashes] so she can see something beautiful every day.”This was said to me a few weeks ago and I am changed. If you are in need of inspiration, or if you'd like to add to your art collection with some of my original works, view my art by clicking here.Pathfinders Podcast HostI'm honored and excited to share that I have accepted the role of Podcast Host at "the premier platform for changemakers and innovators," Pathfinders.social! When you think there's no good in the worldWhen you're stuck in a bad energyOr a bad news cycleBoogie on over to PathfindersWhere you will always be inspiredBy the cool things that your fellow humans are up toBy the many ways that humans are creating a better world for everyone. Here is my Pathfinders interviewIf you're doing something cool in the worldHead to Pathfinders.social and add your voiceThen I can interview you!About this podcast's new homePractical Intuition with Kay has become Art Creativity & Wellbeing.I am doing a happy dance about this!Seriously if emoji were thing I could do in these show notes you would see so many dancing-people, magic-sparkles, and heart emoji right hereLast summer I started a newsletter called Art Creativity & Wellbeing. And then things got complicated as I tried to figure out what the newsletter is, what my podcast should focus on – practical intuition felt embedded, and not the focus anymore. So I've been letting it all kind of rest for winter and early spring.Lo and behold, the next steps just kept showing up and showing up.Now, we've got a great new home in the Substack app! What this means for youIf you're subscribed in your favorite podcatcher, it's still there..
