During the last recession, I was working in a Fortune 500 as an area VP, responsible for 6 locations and 35 people.    Everyone around us was closing branches and laying people off. I used to not really believe one of my now favorite quotes:   “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”-Helen Keller   Mostly because up until my early twenties, I felt like I had to rely on myself to make things happen.    However, once I got into the corporate world, I realized there was a difference between being a manager and being a leader, and the importance of a team working towards the same goal, became glaringly obvious to me.   A leader is someone who can successfully enroll others into the big vision everyone is working toward.
