Initially self-taught on the guitar, he later studied at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Bendeth's early years involved traveling between London and Toronto, and he performed with renowned drummers like Billy Cobham and Lenny White. In 1980, he reached the top of the UK charts as a blue-eyed soul crooner with the single "Feel the Real" and released three albums before joining CBS/Sony Canada as a staff producer.Bendeth's career continued to flourish as he became a songwriter with Chrysalis Music, penning tracks for artists like Joe Cocker and Jeff Beck.
