SIM Ep 178 Gig 36: Morrissey, Mitchell, Jackson and Herring
This gigcast is from our one gig of the year where we allow some blokes to do the talking, and Sarah and Mickey had a belly-achingly fun time with Richard Herring, Colin Jackson, David Mitchell and David Morrissey. Chat included baloney sandwiches, Kes, too many trainers, a fish not called Chris, the power of exercise and the smell of balls. This episode was recorded in front of a live audience at Leicester Square Theatre in November. That means a couple of the plugs are out of date, as in the Upstart Crow Christmas Special was on… Christmas Day. But you can get it on catch up and you absolutely should.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. SIM Ep 174 Pod 60: top birds, great books, Luther and laughing
In this episode, team Noonan, Dunleavy and Offord chat to QI elf and human bookworm Anne Miller about the best reads for the festive period – to buy as presents or to curl up with yourself. Hannah and Jen catch up with cracking actor and excellent human Wunmi Mosaku to talk Luther, Idris Elba and the potential perils of being a sidekick, and Jen has a natter with tip-top comedians Rachel Parris and Jenny Bede about how this year's been for women in comedy. In the Bush Telegraph, we're saluting our women of the year; as ever, there are loads of birds doing the rest of us proud. And Hannah provides a round-up of all the Disney's she's done in 2018. The fact she's not a gibbering wreck is some sort of Christmas miracle, quite frankly.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. Hosted on Acast. SIM Ep 188 Chops 70: kicking off for disability rights with Barbara Lisicki
In this portion of Chops goodness, Mick has a natter with bona fide bad-ass Barbara Lisicki (@wanda_barbara), comedian, fierce disability activist and proud protest T-shirt wearer. They chat about all sorts of stuff, particularly what Barbara and various allies got up to in their ongoing quest to change the pity-led narrative around people with disabilities. So, revel in Barbara’s telling of the glory that is the Piss On Pity tee and accompanying campaign, and some of the other brilliant and ultimately law-making activism Barbara got up to with DAN, the disabled people’s Direct Action Network. And, perhaps like Mick, find yourself nodding along with why she hates Children In Need. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. Hosted on Acast.
