Michael Hilliard is a conflict journalist and analyst specialising in Russia, Europe and the former Soviet republics. With over a decade of on-the-ground experience reporting from some of the world's most tumultuous warzones, Michael has won various awards for his analytical work.Michael is also currently the Director of Communications for the Oxus Society for Central Asian Affairs, and a consultant working as an advisor and defence policy writer for the UK, US and Australian governments with a strong focus on Eurasian defence policy. Michael's previous background as a journalist includes reporting from countries as varied as Iran, to Ukraine, to XinXiang, to the breakaway state of Transnistria, going after stories as diverse as missing nuclear waste in Africa to electoral interference in South America.Michael is probably best known in the geopolitical community though for being the founder and host of The Red Line Podcast, a geopolitical analysis program focusing on conflicts from around the world. The program has made front-page news in several countries and has worked with the likes of The White House, the CIA, Harvard, Oxford and Chatham House to produce fortnightly 90-minute analysis pieces for a wide audience.
