Olivia Newton John: Hopelessly Devoted To You

When Olivia Newton-John walked out of the lift and into the Mamamia office in 2018 on a Wednesday morning, she was fragile but somehow full of energy at the same time. She glowed. She was naturally curious, effervescent, and exuded extremely warm energy.  It’s hard to think of a more iconic Australian nor one more beloved. Olivia Newton-John passed away this morning at 73, to remember her, we’re resharing her No Filter with Mia… Become a Mamamia subscriber: https://www.mamamia.com.au/subscribeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Julia Haart’s Unorthodox Life: Part One

Find part two of Mia's conversation with Julia here. Until she was 40, every aspect of Julia Haart’s life, was tightly, tightly controlled. What she ate, what she thought, what she wore, and what she was allowed to do in a day. Julia was part of an ultra-Orthodox community in New York – a type of extreme form of religion called Haredi Judaism. But, after having 4 kids, Julia decided to escape. Before we jump in, just a quick note - and some context. It’s important to bear in mind that these are Julia’s personal experiences. They do not speak for the many and varied experiences of all Jewish women - Orthodox, Ultra-Orthodox, or otherwise.  And on those terms - ‘Orthodox’ and ‘Ultra-Orthodox’ - while we use them interchangeably, it’s important to note that actually,  Julia’s experience is within an Ultra-Orthodox community of Monsey, New York. This is just one niche sect in a spectrum of many, each with varying customs.  This is part one of her story… THE END BITS: Subscribe to Mamamia With thanks to Julia Haart. Tracey Spicer’s Life With Long Covid

Three years ago, Tracey was named the NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year, accepted the Sydney Peace Prize alongside Tarana Burke for the Me Too Movement, and won the national award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership through Women and Leadership Australia. Today, most of Tracey’s days are spent at doctors appointments.  She’s a multiple Walkley Award winning author and broadcaster who has anchored programs all over Australia. We’re sure she didn’t imagine that in July 2022 she’d be on No Filter, speaking about how she became one of the unlucky ones: a sufferer of the dreaded Long Covid.  Long Covid means your symptoms have persisted for longer than 12 weeks after initial infection. What’s interesting though, is that there might be new symptoms. You could feel like you’re actually getting sick with something else entirely. And for some, their condition continues to deteriorate.  Tracey has been sick for 204 days. And here’s what she thinks you should know. Mia Freedman: The Accidental Entrepreneur

Mamamia started as a blog and evolved into an empire. And it can be all traced back to the moment Mia Freedman was sitting on her living room floor cutting bits and pieces out of magazines to make the Mamamia logo. So how did she go from a blog of one to an office of over 100 people? She's about to tell us as Holly Wainwright takes over as No Filter host to interview Mia about her story. THE END BITS: Feedback? Kelly McCarren Never Thought Motherhood Would Be Like This

Want more with Kelly? Find her extra No Filter episode here. If you're expecting, a new mum, or wrangling a toddler, we have all the best resources for new parents in our free newsletter here. You might know Kelly McCarren as one of the hosts of Mamamia’s You Beauty podcast. She’s well known for being candid and vulnerable about her life on her social media accounts, speaking about her boob job, her nose job, hating her wedding, gender disappointment in pregnancy and her mental health. But when Kelly started sharing the toll of what being a new mother really looks and feels like on her social media, she was universally applauded. She made other parents feel seen. So, Mia asked her on the podcast to talk about the things we don’t often talk about - the moments in life where we don’t think any other woman has been before, and how Kelly is sharing the realities of being a new parent. Both the overflow of love and the overwhelm of trying to figure out what to do with a screaming baby. THE END BITS: With thanks to Kelly McCarren. Listen to her on You Beauty here.  Feedback?
