Global Population Decline (Ft. Simone & Malcolm Collins)

Get access to The Backroom Exclusive podcasts by becoming a Patron: https://www.patreon.com/OneDime In this spicy episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Simone & Malcolm Collins, known as the “pronatalist” power couple who went viral following media attacks on “The Pronatalist Movement” - a response to the global fertility crisis and how birth rates are rapidly declining everywhere, especially in Asia and Latin America. Malcolm and Simone Collins host the podcast called “Based Camp” and are the founders of “The Pragmatist Institute.” Together, they have published multiple books, such as “The Pragmatist's Guide to Crafting Religion” (Being the only one I read). Simone & Malcolm Collins consider themselves to be part of “The New Right” - a pro-tech progressive conservative movement that is anti-racist, pluralistic, tolerant of sexuality, yet pro-religion and quite socially conservative for today’s standards. So, full disclosure: even though Malcolm & Simone Collins are quite unconventional conservatives, they still see themselves as part of the Right and are trying to reform the Republican party. In this episode, after getting Simone & Malcolm Collins to clarify their political positions, I try to challenge views on Capitalism, Socialism, and contemporary American politics in general. In The Backroom on Patreon, I challenge Malcolm Collins’s views on the modern Conservative movement and his belief that the Republican Party is the lesser evil. Nietzsche, Machiavelli and Marx: The Dark Triad (Ft. The Nietzsche Podcast)

Get access to The Backroom Exclusive episodes on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OneDime In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Keegan Kjeldsen, host of The Nietzsche Podcast/Untimely Reflections, to talk about the powerful complementary insights between Nietzsche and Machiavelli, as well as other thinkers such as Karl Marx and Ibn Khaldun. We also discuss the ways in which Nietzsche's work is often misunderstood, appropriated, or diluted by people on the right and left. In The Backroom segment on Patreon, Keegan and I critique Jordan Peterson’s understanding of Nietzsche and the ways in which popular “Petersonian” YouTube channels such as “Academy of Ideas” and “Thoughts on Thinking” distort Nietzche. It was an exhilarating episode; you don't want to miss it! Sortition Democracy: Selection by Lot (Ft. Victor Bruzzone)

Get access to The Backroom Exclusive podcasts by becoming a Patron:  https://www.patreon.com/OneDime In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Victor Bruzzone of the Pill Pod (Plastic Pills Podcast) to discuss forms of radical democracy such as Sortition - “the lot system” in which representatives are selected at random by lottery. It was used in Ancient Athens and for a time also in the Republics of Florence, Venice and Genoa.  Sortition is not the same thing as “direct democracy,”  such as assembly (which was also used in Athenian Democracy). The Marxist Paul Cockshott also proposes the sortition system in his book, “Towards a New Socialism.”  In The Backroom, Victor proposes his own variant of sortition, which he has been working on, which I found quite fascinating and innovative. You don’t want to miss it.  Timestamps:  00:00 Preview of The Backroom 03:02 A Radical Form of Representative Democracy 07:20 Sortition in Athens and the Italian City States 12:24 Pros and Cons of Sortition 41:01 Leo Strauss and The Aristocratic Reading Method 54:12 Intelligence and Epistocracy 01:04:33 Sortition vs Elections Outro Music by Karl Casey The book I was refering to was called “Principles of Representative Government” by Bernard Manin Read More with Speechify: https://share.speechify.com/mzrxH5D Check out the Academic Edgelord podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/3509RjVqJgSvEXC0X94Bri Check out the Pill Pod (Plastic Pills podcast)  https://www.youtube.com/@PillPod Follow Viktor Bruzzone on X: https://x.com/victorbruzzone Follow me on X:  https://x.com/1DimeOfficial Check out the 1Dime videos if you haven't already: https://www.youtube.com/@1Dimee/ Become a Patron at Patreon.com/OneDime to support the show Be sure to give 1Dime Radio a 5-star rating if you enjoy the show!

In his book, Daniel Tutt presents critiques of both Family Abolitionists and provides a critical history of the modern nuclear family and how it changed under capitalism. He engages with the theories of Christopher Lasch, Jaques Lacan, Freud, Rene Girard, Foucault, Deleuze and Guattari, and various Marxist Feminist theorists.  Timestamps:   00:00 Daniel Tutt’s Debate with Haz (Infared) 03:29 Introduction to Family Abolition 04:41 Writing the Book: Influences and Themes 14:26 History of The Modern Family 27:10 Capitalism and the Family 28:30 Family Abolition Discourse 36:38 The New Spirit of Capitalism and Cultural Revolution 56:11 The Paradox of Liberation 57:41 Patriarchy and Changing Family Structures 01:01:23 The Paradox of Liberation 01:27:19 The Crisis of Initiation 01:33:43 Concluding Thoughts Follow Daniel Tutt on X: https://x.com/DanielTutt Follow me on X:  https://x.com/1DimeOfficial Check out the 1Dime videos if you haven't already: https://www.youtube.com/@1Dimee/ Become a Patron at Patreon.com/OneDime to support the show Outro Music by Karl Casey Be sure to give 1Dime Radio a 5-star rating if you enjoyed the show!
