A week ago, E. Jean Carroll beat Trump in his appeal of the $5 million jury award in one of her defamation cases. Now, Ms. Carroll has won another victory in the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in her $83.3 million defamation case against Trump. Specifically, the court rejected AG Bondi and the DOJ's attempt to get Trump out of the case and insert the DOJ into the case as the defendant. The American Bar Association has sued Donald Trump for his unconstitutional executive orders punishing law firms. Given that multiple judges have already ruled that such executive orders are unconstitutional (rulings that the Trump administration didn't appeal), it seems like the ABA's suit should be a lay-down winner on the merits. No Kings Day rallies across the country drew more than 5 million protestors. In a sweeping ruling and stern condemnation of Trump's violation of both the federal law AND the Constitution, a federal judge in California ruled that Trump must relinquish control of the California National Guard and return control to California Governor Gavin Newsom. However, the appeals court has issued a brief stay/pause on the ruling.In ruling against Trump, Judge Charles Breyer wrote: "At this early stage of the proceedings, the Court must determine whether the President followed the congressionally mandated procedure for his actions. He did not. His actions were illegal both exceeding the scope of his statutory authority and violating the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. He must therefore return control of the California National Guard to the Governor of the State of California forthwith." Attorney General Pam Bondi and her Department of Justice lawyers said repeatedly that it was impossible to facilitate Abrego Garcia's return to the United States. Then, lo and behold, they arranged for Abrego Garcia's return to the US and waived around a two-count criminal indictment claiming that he's been involved in a criminal conspiracy from 2016 through 2025. In other words, if it's true, the first Trump DOJ let Garcia run a dangerous criminal conspiracy inside the United States with impunity during the entirety of Trump's first term. And, Garcia was in court in 2019 and the judge issued an immigration order that allowed him to reside in the United States to escape gang violence. The Trump administration has been peddling to the American people that its deportation effort would focus on immigrants who had been convicted of crimes.
