Trump Took $7.8 Million from Foreign Governments While President
In another example of constitutional vandalism, a congressional report has been released documenting how Donald Trump took $7.8 million from foreign governments while in office - this in violation of the Constitution's emoluments clause. Yet, in a demonstration of mind-blowing hypocrisy, the Republicans in Congress continue to focus on Hunter Biden receiving money from foreign entities with NO EVIDENCE that his father, Joe Biden, received any money. By comparison, Donald Trump unconstitutionally raked in millions from foreign governments that went directly into Donald Trump's bank account, pockets and profits. If you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer efforts and mission, you can becoming a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner For our Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at glennkirschner.comFollow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Trump Signals He Knows Criminal Convictions are Coming
Donald Trump is as transparent as child when it comes to what he tries to accomplish with his lies, his disinformation, and his propaganda. For example, when he posts lies like, "the prosecutors are not coming after me, they're coming after you," it's a rallying cry designed to dupe his followers into feeling like they have a personal stake in the Trump prosecutions. Of course, the reality is that it is Trump, not his supporters, who is facing 91 felony charges in four cases, both state and federal. In his recent post, Trump tipped his hand, making it clear that even he knows that he will be convicted at trial. Glenn explains how Trump is now softening the ground in hopes he can dupe his followers into believing that the coming convictions will not be legitimate. Then, Glenn discusses Trump's criminal defense attorneys who seem to again be taking on the tone and tenor of their client in legal filings. Their latest motion is no exception. Trump's lawyers have asked Judge Tanya Chutkan to hold Jack Smith and his prosecutors in contempt for giving the defense discovery (evidence) and filing a motion while the case is on appeal. But they don't stop there. Their motion goes on to state that the prosecutors "unlawful goal . . . is the (a) desperate attempt to harass President Trump and prevent his likely victory in the 2024 Presidential election." Glenn says: sadly, these defense motions read more like a 2 am Trump posts than legitimate legal filings. If you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer mission, you can becoming a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner For our Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at glennkirschner.comFollow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Trump Targets Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows
We've seen this movie before: some government official, some prosecutor, some law enforcement agent does something to hold Donald Trump accountable for his crimes, and Trump posts things about the person designed to inspire his supporters to threats and violence against that person. Most recently, Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows followed Maine's elections laws and her oath of office, and disqualified Trump from the Maine ballot. So, of course, Trump posted Secretary Bellows' bio and the threats started pouring in. Trump is on pretrial release in four felony cases. The law provides that, when there is clear and convincing evidence that a person under felony indictment poses a threat to the community or any person in the community, that defendant is to be detained pending trial. Glenn says it's long past time that the institutions of government apply the nation's pretrial detention laws to Trump as those laws are applied to every other person who is pending trial in a felony case. Trump should be detained pending trial.

Jack Smith Court Filing Dismantles Trump's Claim that he has Immunity From Prosecution
As the 50 states continue to decide the question of whether Donald Trump should be disqualified from state election ballots pursuant to the 14th Amendment because he engaged in insurrection against the United States, it looks like one conservative Supreme Court Justice ruled on that issue previously. In the ruling handed down by the Colorado Supreme Court disqualifying Trump from the presidential ballot in Colorado, the court relied on a legal opinion authored by Neil Gorsuch when he was a federal appellate court judge. The issue was whether the states had the authority to ban from their election ballots a candidate who was disqualified under the Constitution. Here are the precise words of then-Judge (now Supreme Court Justice) Neil Gorsuch: "a state's legitimate interest in protecting the integrity and practical functioning of the political process permits it to exclude from the ballot candidates who are constitutionally prohibited from assuming office. "Glenn says: So the only question left is - will Gorsuch remain consistent with his prior ruling and allow Colorado and the other states to disqualify Trump from their state ballots? Then, Donald Trump has asked the DC Circuit Court of Appeals to rule that he is above the law - absolutely immune from being prosecuted for the crimes he committed while in office. Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed his opposition to Trump's motion, setting out how dangerous and destructive it would be to our democracy if a president was allowed to commit crimes with impunity, including crimes designed to unlawfully retain the power of the presidency.

Maine Joins Colorado to Disqualify Trump From Primary Ballot
The States have been, well . . . all over the map (pun intended) on whether Donald Trump is constitutionally disqualified from being on the presidential ballot because he engaged in an insurrection. Glenn surveys the laws and the state of play in Colorado, Michigan, California, and Maine, regarding Trump's status as a presidential candidate. He also projects what he thinks the US Supreme Court might do once the issue reaches the justices.

Jack Smith's Latest Filing Hopes to Prevent Trump's Misinformation During Trial.
Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed a Motion In Limine, seeking to have Judge Tanya Chutkan prohibit Trump's lawyers from making improper arguments to the jury during his criminal trial in DC. As The Washington Post reported, "Special counsel asks D.C. judge to bar Trump misinformation at trial." Glenn discusses the law that applies to such motions in limine, and reviews the laundry list of "don'ts" that Smith includes in his motions.

Michigan Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Trump's 14th Amendment Case
The Michigan Supreme Court has refused to review a case that sought to ban Donald Trump from having his name placed on the Republican primary ballot in Michigan. This ruling is unsurprising given the unique election laws and procedures in Michigan. If the Michigan Republican Party wants to place a name on its presidential primary ballot, it can put any name it likes, including someone who may otherwise be disqualified from holding public office. That may make little sense, but each state has the right to enact its own election laws and regulations, and Michigan has chose a . . . curious way to go about things. Notably, the Michigan Secretary of State has no legal authority to reject Trump's name even though he engaged in an insurrection. So the Michigan Supreme Court opted to not review the case, as it involved no violation of Michigan election laws. However, if Trump were to win the Republican nomination, the suit will be refiled and the court may then HAVE to review and resolve the case. Indeed, the attorney who brought the case on behalf of the Michigan voters has said he will refile the case if Trump ends up being the Republican nominee.

Supreme Court Says No to Fast-Tracking Trump's Immunity Claim
There is both concern and confusion over exactly what it means that the US Supreme Court refused to accept review - on an accelerated basis - of Donald Trump's (baseless) claim of absolute presidential immunity from prosecution. Glenn does a deep dive on what this Supreme Court decision means; what it doesn't mean; and the reasons he thinks the Supreme Court will ultimately reject Trump's claim that a president can commit any and all crimes while in office with complete protection from being prosecuted.
