Dwell #22: God, Help Us - Vera & Natalie

Hear Vera Schmitz and Natalie Abbott, Dwell Co-founders, talk about this month's verse:For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. (Isaiah 14:13)They talk about how God's help isn't just for the big things we're dealing with, but for our everyday situations. They share about the ways God is specifically meeting them and helping them through their daily lives. And, they talk about the difference it makes to operate out of a place of abundance instead of a place of scarcity. God wants us to operate out of his abundance in our daily lives, and this podcast is a great reminder of how we can do just that. Support the showFollow Natalie & Vera at DwellDifferently.com and @dwelldifferenly.

Dwell #21: Partners in the Gospel - Kenny & William

Kenny King and William Marshall co-pastor Grace Bible Fellowship in Sikeston, Missouri. "Co... WHAT???" you say. You heard it right. They are Co-Pastors. Instead of a Senior Pastor and an Associate Pastor, this church has two equal Co-Pastors. It's a relationship of equality in leadership, preaching, decision making... all of it. This month's memory verse, Romans 12:10, is foundational to the co-pastor model. It tells us that we should honor and love others above ourselves. Kenny and William live this verse out daily in their roles as Co-Pastors. They talk about what it means to lean on each other and defer to one another all things. They share the Biblical basis for this kind of church model. And, they share the ins and outs of how co-pastoring works, sacrifices they have made, and the value of working together as fellow brothers in their church. I was truly inspired by how the gospel is being lived out practically in their friendship. And, I'm thankful for their example of deference and love in leadership. I hope you will be too.Support the showFollow Natalie & Vera at DwellDifferently.com and @dwelldifferenly.

Dwell #20: Unity, Not Uniformity - Kenny & William

In this episode of the Dwell Podcast we get to talk church. And, oh is it good. Our verse from Romans 12:10 is written to the church to encourage us to be devoted to one another and to love one another as a group of believers. So, I couldn't be more excited to have two co-pastors on the show to discuss what that kind of love looks like in their church. William Marshall and Kenny King are the Co-pastors of Grace Bible Fellowship in Sikeston, Missouri. Their church is very unique. What was once two different churches, one primarily black and one primarily white, is now one unified church. Kenny and William share about the mission, the joys, the unity, and the difficulties of their new church. We talk about how the Gospel is the foundation for every believer, and the foundation of their church. They share about how Christ's love and sacrifice is what should motivate us to love and sacrifice for one another, despite differences. And, they share about how God's kingdom is on display in their worship services through the diversity of their fellowship. After our talk I just want to go to their church, meet their people, and worship with them.   If you'd like to find out more about their church or visit them on a Sunday, follow them on Facebook at @GBFSikeson.Support the showFollow Natalie & Vera at DwellDifferently.com and @dwelldifferenly.

Dwell #19: Founded on Friendship - Kenny & William

Meet Kenny King and William Marshall, Co-pastors of Grace Bible Fellowship in Sikeston, Missouri. When I heard their story, I was floored, and couldn't wait talk with them. They were both Senior Pastors in the same town at two different churches, one primarily black and the other primarily white. When they met and discovered their shared beliefs about the gospel and their passion for racial reconciliation, they became fast friends.  Through that friendship, they eventually merged their two separate churches into one united, diverse church. In this episode, we get to hear the story of how they met, why they decided to merge their churches, and the unique opportunity God has given them to display the power of the gospel through their church. Their church is a great example of this month's verse, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." (Romans 12:10).Find out more about them on their FB page: @GBFSikestonSupport the showFollow Natalie & Vera at DwellDifferently.com and @dwelldifferenly.

Dwell #18: Others First - Vera & Natalie

This week Vera and I talk about the themes in Romans 12:10. It says, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." It seems pretty simple on the surface, but it's a sincerely difficult verse to live out in our daily lives. Think about it. It's tough to consider others before ourselves, isn't it? We talk about how we both struggle to do this. And, we talk about practical things like jealousy and celebrating other's successes. We discuss what it means to honor someone else, and how we tend to want to hoard honor instead of giving it away. And, we talk about how the context of this verse really sheds light on what should motivate our love of others. Like always, there's a lot of laughter and fun mixed in.Thanks for listening!Support the showFollow Natalie & Vera at DwellDifferently.com and @dwelldifferenly.

Dwell #16: Truly Satisfied - Polly Conner

In this episode we continue our conversation with Polly Conner, a mom, a writer, Co-founder of Thriving Home, and a pastor's wife. It is just such a good episode!  I learned so much that I just can't help but say... "PREACH ON, Preacher's Wife!"She really dives into this  this idea of satisfaction, talking about what it means and how it should look (not just like warm fuzzies). She talks about the deeper peace that comes from finding our contentment in Jesus instead of in our circumstances, and how we're all tempted to try to find our happiness in people or things that can never truly satisfy us. We talk about how we tend to think, "If I could just get this next thing, or make it through this hard season, then I will be happy." But, the truth is, we can be content right now if we are seeking it in the right place. I hope you give it a listen. It's such a practical and insightful conversation.FIND OUT MORE ABOUT POLLY by going to the Thriving Home Website. Or follow @thrivinghome & @pollyconner on FB and Insta.
