Do You Believe You Have To Earn God's Love? // Vera & Natalie
“Sometimes I think we think this promise is something that we earn, or that we get when we're good enough, or when we’re doing all the right things. But the beauty of this promise is the context of the promise: when we fail, when we are faithless, God is still faithful. God still loves us. He draws us with unfailing kindness—the kind of kindness that doesn’t fail. That’s who our God is.” — Natalie AbbottThis month’s memory verse: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” — Jeremiah 31:3bToday’s podcast: We’re so glad you’re joining Natalie Abbott and Vera Schmitz, sisters and co-founders of Dwell Differently, as they talk about Jeremiah 31:3b today. Listen in to hear their ideal podcast walk out song, what happens when we look to people for the love that only God can give, and the truly good news about how God’s love is different—and far better—than the love we experience anywhere else. What would your life look like today if you really believed that God’s love is everlasting and his kindness is unfailing? God loves you even in the midst of your mess, and we pray that your understanding of his love for you would grow as we memorize the Bible together!Memorize Scripture with us: Find out more about Dwell’s monthly kit with temporary tattoos, a display card, a key tag, and more to help you know and dwell on God’s Word.Get our weekly devotional email: Dive deeper into this month’s verse.Did you love today’s episode?: We’d love to hear about it! Good News in the Midst of Our Mess // Natalie Abbott
“This is a verse not spoken in a place of perfection and goodness and righteousness…but a place of mess and of need and even of God’s rebuke. In this midst of their sin, God says this to [his people]: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.'” — Natalie AbbottThis month’s memory verse: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” — Jeremiah 31:3b Today’s podcast: What should we do when we feel unlovable? Join Natalie Abbott, co-founder of Dwell Differently, as she digs into the context of the book of Jeremiah, helping us to see the richness of God’s unfailing love for people like us who just keep messing up. In the midst of the drumbeat of impending judgement throughout Jeremiah, there is also the heartbeat of God’s love for his people—calling them to return to him, showing his faithfulness in the face of their faithlessness. And this is still our God today, calling out to us in the middle of our wandering and wavering and offering us instead a secure, safe place with him in his steadfast love. Words That Bring Light // Vera Schmitz
“For each of us—no matter who you are, no matter how mentally tough you are—there are things in our lives we are believing that are not true. Or maybe we need guidance in our life. And God’s Word is saying here in this verse, in Psalm 119:105, that his Word is the light and the lamp for our path.” — Vera SchmitzThis month’s memory verse: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” — Psalm 119:105 Today’s podcast: We all know what darkness is—we know what it feels like and how we try to avoid it. The good news in our verse this month is that God’s Word is a lamp and a light, breaking through the darkness around us and in us, illuminating our path. In today’s episode, Vera shares about her struggle with anxiety and how the practice of “breathing Scripture” has helped her to memorize and meditate on truth to help her remember what God has said when her mind is spinning. He is faithful to bring light to our darkness through the truth of his Word, and we pray that as you memorize the Bible along with us, you will experience the light his Word brings as well!Memorize Scripture with us: Find out more about Dwell’s monthly kit with temporary tattoos, a display card, a key tag, and more to help you know and dwell on God’s Word.Get our weekly devotional email: Dive deeper into this month’s verse.
