Cecily Hennigan is a force of nature, but more than that, she’s a force of God’s nature wherever she is. Although there may be a few decades between us, there’s a tenacity in her I recognize and love. You will too. Her backbone is Holy Spirit-given and her drive to hone her creative expression is inspiring. I’m so grateful for this conversation because we may start in artistry, but we’re also talking about the reality of racial tension we’re facing. A heart, perspective, and voice like Cecily’s is so crucial to the Body of Christ and I’m so excited for her to share it with you today. It’s moments like this that make me excited for the future. Life is messy and the situations and seasons in it can sometimes bring us to our knees. It's in that very place God wants to meet us and lift our eyes to see Him and His plan as good. But when we run from the honesty and vulnerability needed to work through real pain we leave restoration on the table. God wants to meet us in our joy and in our sorrow, in our victories and in our lowest seasons, in our reality ... It's all fair game for Him when we live surrendered. My guest today, Jessica Latshaw, is truly a creative force of nature. From performing in Broadway shows to sharing beautifully written revelations, this Mama/Writer/Artist/Musician is one of a kind. It's always a great time when Kalley Heiligenthal and I get together and after today, you'll surely know why. We speak the same kind of vulnerable, we're not afraid to laugh, and we have a deep respect + love for each other. She's walked with the Lord on a gracious journey and the way she expresses her joys, questions, aches, and the wisdom it's all produced will leave you lifted. We're talking about pastoring, calling others up, and stewarding the call of God period- not only on your life, but on the lives of those you lead. We're continuing our "creative convo" this week and I'm so glad you're here for it. One thing was abundantly clear to me after releasing Part 1 ... People want to know what God has to say about the creativity He placed in them. More than that, people want to know what God has to say period. Can I let you in on a secret? God is the most creative, wildly inventive, and brilliantly minded Artist there is or ever will be. If we miss that we miss so much of who He is and what He’s placed in each of us. Yes YOU, regardless of how you see yourself and understand creativity are a creative being made by the Creator himself.
