In last week’s podcast, brother Minoru Chen cautioned us regarding the dangers of being idle and unfruitful as revealed in 2 Peter Chapter One. This week, brother Minoru shares further from Peter’s words a comprehensive antidote to such a condition. God has provided everything we need to live a fruitful life in His kingdom. By recalling, responding, being renewed, receiving, and resolving we can practically apply this provision in our experience. The way we view ourselves dictates our actions and behavior. Therefore, we need an uplifted view, the divine view, to see that as working saints we should be the core of the church. If we realize this, we will take the lead to pick up the burdens of the church, and the whole church will benefit. In the book of Numbers, God asked Moses to number His people according to their age. In particular, God charged a specific group of Levites “to do the work of service and the work of bearing burdens in the Tent of Meeting (4:47).” Although these age groups are Old Testament types and not to be applied literally in the New Testament, we can apply their spiritual principles to the church life today. Being Vitalized for a Normal Christian Life and Service. Sometimes when we find ourselves drifting in our spiritual life, we may want to blame the current of the world. However, the real reason we drift is because there is no direction in our Christian life. Therefore, even a small current will eventually carry us away if we do not set proper goals. In this episode, brother Andrew Yu challenges us to get the direction of our life under control by setting waypoints and having our companions check us. In Hebrews 2:1, the apostle Paul admonished the Hebrew believers to “give heed more abundantly to the things which have been heard lest perhaps we drift away.” The Greek word for drift conveys both the meaning to leak or slip away, as well as to drift away with the current and become lost. In this special new year fellowship, brother Minoru Chen shares with us his personal experience and practice of spending a longer period of time with the Lord at the beginning of each new year. During such a time with the Lord, our brother encourages us to practice 6 things: recall, rehearse, reflect, repent, renew, and reset. He also encourages us to gather our family together for a dedicated time in the Lord's presence and reaffirm that our household is for the Lord.
