EP170: Ned Augustenborg

Today’s enlightening episode of Electronically Yours features documentary maker Ned Augustenborg, who has made a fascinating film about an unrecognised hero of electronic music Don Lewis. Don Lewis was an American vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic engineer. He created an instrument called the Live Electronic Orchestra (LEO), which integrated multiple instruments under a controller system and predated the MIDI controller by ten years. He was also a close advisor for the Roland Corporation, and helped conceive the original design of the TR 808 drum machine. EP169: Nick Banks

This fascinating episode of Electronically Yours features one of the original members of Sheffield’s own legendary post-punk rockers, Pulp. Nick started playing drums aged 14 and was inspired by Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols and Blondie's Clem Burke. In his early years he saw many of Pulp's performances in Sheffield. He eventually joined the group in 1986 because "they were his favourite band". He is about to tour all over world once more with the band, and locally performs regularly with Sheffield band The Everly Pregnant Brothers. Also, as the unofficial “memory keeper’ of Pulp, he has just released a very entertaining autobiography documenting his rollercoaster history with Pulp entitled ‘So That’s Where It Started’.
