EP148: Alex Paterson

This eclectically electronic episode features Alex Paterson, the founder of one of the most successful dance acts of the 90’s, The Orb.   Starting his journey as roadie for Killing Joke, and A&R at EG records, he moved into DJing. In 1989, Youth and Alex Paterson started the WAU! Mr. Modo label. Their early releases of a selection of industrial techno dubs and heavy sound system dubs from artists such as Napthali, Manasseh, Bim Sherman and Jah Warrior are long deleted and fetch high sums in private sales.   His cofounding of the Orb with Jimmy Cauty fell apart (problems with Jimmy’s KLF project), but Alex continued to forge a massive career – later they kissed and made up.   Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the extraordinary story of Alex Paterson...
