Ep. 146 - Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith talks Testosterone HRT
Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. A very timely topic on the show today - women and tesosterone therapy at menopause. Not just a hormone for the guys, testosterone is a crucial part of the HRT picture for women. When we are cycling, we make a huge amount of testosterone, but we don't hear about that as much as we hear about estrogen and progesterone. I am speaking with Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith - a gynecologist with a specialty practice in menopause care in Houston, Texas. She is a certified menopause practitioner and the Founder of the Complete Midlife Wellness Center. She is also a podcaster, author and triathlete. Testosterone therapy is helpful for bone and muscle health, moods and mental health and sexual health for men and women! There is some controversy with this topic as the FDA doesn't yet have an approved for women testosterone product! It's not just a male hormone. Listen in to learn all about this helpful hormone for women in the menopause transition. You can find out more about Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith on her website and on Instagram @completemidlifewellness. Ep. 145 - Remembering to Play with the Comic Coach, Em Stroud
Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Please join us for this lighthearted and fun conversation with The Comic Coach, Em Stroud. Em is Leadership and Business Coach, a podcaster, an author, and a theatre and comedy show performer who is premiering her one woman show in London's West End in December of 2024 before a UK tour in 2025. Em and I spoke about the importance of play and fun. We forget how to play as adults, but Em shares a story of her son and his reminders to play daily were a wake up call for her. This is one of my favourite conversations of the year! I learned so much about myself and my methods of play through the eyes of Em (and her swell play permissions!) Tune in to learn about that for yourself. How DO you play? Em shares the 12 ways we play as humans and how you can find freedom and recognition in how you already play (even if you don't think you do!). Wise, funny and full of useful info, you will enjoy this episode as much as I did. 🩵 You can find out more about Em Stroud on her website - emstroud.com. Follow Em on Instagram here. Ep. 142 - What Does Clean Air Have To Do With Your Sleep with Mike Feldstein
Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Cooking, wildfire smoke, pollution, fragrance and mold. Things I didn't think would ever be discussed much on the NYMM podcast, but in doing the research for this interview with Mike Feldstein, I realized, I have been remiss by not discussing the effects of these things on our overall health. Addressing these things in our home environment can make massive change when we don't feel great. Mike Feldstein is an Air Quality expert and has decades of experience working in restoration and remediation. He brings this expertise to the table along with some very interesting stories. In a study that JASPR did recently, monitoring the group of 125 people with sleep trackers, he found that when the bedroom air was clean and filtered, the participants fell asleep quicker, had 18% deeper sleep and 25% more sleep. Mike calls clean air "sleep fuel" and he is onto something there. Listen in to this fascinating conversation to learn more to get better sleep and optimize your health! You can find out more about Mike Feldstein and JASPR @jasprco and at Jasper.co. In case you missed it, JASPR is $400 off for listeners of the show until November 11, 2024 using the code LOVELY. Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Andrea Donsky is returning to the show today for a discussion on her upcoming event - The Power of Menopause being held virtually on October 25, 2024. Andrea and her company wearemorphus.com collect data via free surveys that anyone can take. Through the data collected, we are starting to get a much more clear and different picture of what actually happens at perimenopause, with our sleep in peri, and how our doctors are treating us when we present for care. The results will surprise you (but probably not shock you). 40% of women are dismissed by their doctor without help for meno symptoms. And there is much more to this conversation! Andrea walks us through the top 10 symptoms of the perimenopause transition (hint: hot flashes dont show up until number 10!) and what we can do to help with these symptoms. Additionally, Andrea tells us there are 103 symptoms associated with menopause. It's so much more than we were taught! Please listen, learn and share.
