Birth, Confidence, and Loss: Keshia's Remarkable Story *audio*
In the 38th installment of The Road to Wisdom Podcast, Keshia candidly recounts the remarkable tales of bringing her first two children into the world. This episode delves into Keshia's transformation from maiden to mother, shedding light on the pervasive societal notions of "bouncing back" and the unrealistic expectations placed on women during pregnancy and postpartum. Naïvely, Keshia entered the hospital during her first pregnancy with minimal awareness of how the medical system falls short in supporting natural childbirth. However, she emerged from the hospital having successfully undergone a physiological birth.
Despite the challenges surrounding her second pregnancy and birth, this experience bolstered her confidence, leading to a profoundly intimate second birth experience in the comfort of her own bathroom, where her baby boy entered the world in the loving embrace of his father.
Throughout this episode, Keshia and Chloe share not only humorous anecdotes but also stories of sorrow and loss intertwined, as Keshia and her family coped with the unexpected illness and subsequent loss of her father. We invite you to join us for this emotionally diverse journey.

*Audio* Exploring the Fertility Dilemma: Navigating Assisted Reproduction Ethics with Kallie Fell
In episode 34 of The Road to Wisdom Podcast Chloe & Keshia have a difficult to digest conversation with Kallie Fell about the IVF industry, surrogacy and the ethical dilemmas associated with big fertility. Kallie started her professional career as a scientist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center utilizing a Master of Science degree in Animal Sciences with an emphasis on Reproductive Physiology and Molecular Biology from Purdue University. While assisting in the investigation of endometriosis and pre-term birth, Kallie simultaneously pursued a degree in nursing with hopes of working with women as a perinatal nurse.
After meeting Jennifer at a conference, Kallie became interested in the work of the Center for Bioethics and Culture and started volunteering with the organization. It is obvious that Kallie is passionate about women’s health. She continues to work, as she has for the past 6 years, as a perinatal nurse and has worked with the Centre of Bioethics and Cultural Network since 2018, first as a volunteer writer, then as our staff Research Associate, and now as the Executive Director. In 2021, Kallie co-directed the CBC’s newest documentary, Trans Mission: What’s the Rush to Reassign Gender? Kallie also hosts the popular podcast Venus Rising and is the Program Director for the Paul Ramsey Institute.
In this difficult to fathom episode we deep dive into the moral and ethical complications surrounding assisted reproductive technology including IVF, Surrogacy, egg and sperm donation and the potential for these technologies to advance in the future and how its relating to transhumanism.
