Circadian Health, Quantum Biology & Leptin Sensitivity w/ Sarah Kleiner
I jump at any chance I get to listen, learn and converse with an expert in the area of circadian and quantum health. Luckily, one of my favorite educators in this domain, Sarah Kleiner, was available to sit down for an engaging chat. Sarah is phenomenal at breaking down rather complex subjects and lucidly explaining the "low hanging fruit" of quantum health with such simplicity, even a cave man could do it! Yes, pun intended. In today's conversation, we cover an array of topics ranging from morning routines and sun exposure to the importance of eating breakfast and leptin sensitivity to red light therapy's impact on wellness to the role of mitochondria in quantum health to a relatively new theory showing that deuterium-depleted water may be a more important end-product of oxidative phosphorylation than ATP (yes, that token of energy)... and much, much more!Sarah Kleiner is a Quantum Health Coach with the Quantum Biology Collective (levels 1 & 2), a Certified Nutrition Coach with NASM, and just completed the New Biology Curriculum with Dr. Tom Cowan. Sarah has over 14 years of experience working one on one with clients to optimize nutrition, lifestyle & mindset. Her goal is to shift the paradigm when it comes to circadian rhythms, health & light, and help people integrate these principles into their lives in a modern world. As I mention in this episode, Sarah has a monumental archive of quantum and circadian health education on her Instagram feed (@sarahkleinerwellness) that you could spend days and days sifting through and learning to your heart's content.... which I highly, highly recommend you do. She also has amazing free education and deeper dives via her courses that can be found on her website (link can be found in the podcast show notes).I hope you enjoy the conversation today with Sarah Kleiner. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful.
As always, learn lots and light up your health!

The Mitochondrial Triad & Killing a Virus in 48 Hours w/ Methylene Blue
There seems to be another wicked virus going around and I seemed to find (or, more accurately, it found me) during my trip to Seattle. Luckily, I had packed my BioBlue Leuco! So while it was a miserable experience consisting of intense full-body aches, zero appetite, extremely low energy and the inability to sleep because of those aforementioned symptoms, it provided me with an amazing methylene blue, or in this case leucomethylene blue, anecdote. Compared to the typical recovery time of 4 - 7 days or more, getting back to my normal self in 48 hours was nothing short of astounding. So I felt compelled to share that story with you guys today. For quite some time now, I have been working on a concept that is predicated on all of the information I have been absorbing for the past 5+ years about optimizing health, wellness and longevity. And based on my synthesis of all of this information, and information I continue to learn on a daily basis, it has become abundantly clear that the lowest hanging fruit and the ultimate root source of our health and vitality is (surprise, surprise): mitochondrial function. With that being said, in today's episode I reveal my conceptualization: The Mitochondrial Triad. As the name implies, there are three pillars to this triad. Listen to find out what they are!
I hope you enjoy the information in today's solosode. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful. As always, light up your health!

Red Light Therapy & Acupuncture, Fascia & Cupping: A Deep Dive into Health Strategies w/ Dr. Chris Motley
The more and more I learn about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture, the more I am intrigued and it just makes intuitive sense. It also helps when you learn this deep and complex knowledge from someone as intelligent and articulate as (now) three-time guest, Dr. Chris Motley. Long-time listeners of the show are familiar with Dr. Motley and his amazing command and intuition when it comes to TCM and other holistic modalities; new listeners.... you are in for a treat! He is by far one of my favorite humans to talk with, on and off the mic. Red Light Therapy Anecdotes & Leucomethylene Blue
Ever curious about what results people in the "real world" are achieving with red light therapy? Well this past week on BioLight's Instagram page, we had a feed post to elicit some responses and, oh boy, did it ever. So much that I felt compelled to highlight some of the comments left by people to showcase the variety of ways people are successfully utilizing red light therapy to benefit their health and wellness. From vision to numerous skin health benefits to excelling in exercise/lifting to improving children's sleep and more! The proverbial meat and potatoes of this episode is introducing and learning about methylene blue's reduced version, leucomethylene blue. This is what your body intrinsicly processes methylene blue into that is ingested, but there are some major advantages to taking leucomethylene blue. It's almost instantly bioavailable (as your body does not have to break it down, as it does with MB), the antioxidant effect is nearly immediate (for the same reason) and it has even less toxins than MB (since reducing the MB to leucoMB further removes any metals, toxins. etc; but keep in mind that pharmaceutical grade MB is already very pure. This is only to say the leucoMB is inherently more pure because of it being further reduced and, thus further purified). The above advantages have led to the following personal anecdotal responses since I started using leucomethylene blue: a more rapid cognitive/focus boost and enhanced exercise performance (I have found leucoMB to function essentially as a pre-workout, but without all the junk and jitters. Just clean energy!).After being introduced to leucoMB, I then cover a couple of studies that demonstrate its massive efficacy, particularly as it relates to neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's Disease. We already know that most of the methylene blue ingested ends up in the brain — which is no different for leucoMB — but it appears that leucoMB may have a more pronounced effect. I have no doubt that as time goes on, we'll more more and more about the advantages of methylene blue and leucomethylene blue.Lastly, I announce the release of BioLight's newest supplement: BioBlue Leuco. At the time of this solosode release, this product will be released within the next 24 hours, so stay tuned for more updates!
I hope you enjoy the information in today's solosode. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful. As always, light up your health!

Infrared Sauna Protocol; Pretreatment w/ Methylene Blue; Impact of Gut Dysbiosis & Mitochondrial Dysfunction on Long COVID
Huzzah! Another week, another solosode and more research to delve into and learn from. Just what the doctor ordered...But before we cover research, I thought it would be worth our while to learn from the Finnish biohacking experts — one of which is previous TRLR guest, Dr. Olli Sovijärvi — in their massive tome, Biohacker's Handbook. Specifically, I thought it would be great provide you with some strategies and tactics for your sauna sessions via a sauna protocol they provide in the book. It's a protocol I've used myself over the years and works wonders for detoxing. On the research side of things, we first dive into an interesting study that looks at pretreatment with methylene blue in neonatals to reduce toxin-induced brain and cognitive deficits. While it may not seem like the most relatable topic, there are a lot of great take away points from the article that I discuss.
The second article thoroughly addresses how the combination of our gut microbiome and dybiosis along with dysfunctional mitochondria and suppressed NAD+ levels set the stage for the dreaded milieu of chronic symptoms associated with Long COVID. While they don't provide solutions for the issues they highlight, it's safe to say that both red light therapy and methylene blue have a major role to play with the road to recovery from Long COVID, based on the root causes outlined in the article.
I hope you enjoy the information in today's solosode. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful. As always, light up your health!

Health & Longevity Benefits of Sauna, Infrared Sauna vs. Red Light Therapy & Photobiomodulation For Premyopia
One of the more common questions I get asked, as it relates to red light therapy, is how is it different than infrared saunas? Do they elicit the same health benefits? Which one is "better"? If I had to choose one, which modality should I use? Understandably, the major hangup and confusion comes from both technologies integrating infrared light... granted of different flavors of infrared and, thus, different physiological responses. We cover the basics of what infrared saunas are, the difference between traditional vs. infrared saunas, discuss the top 10 benefits derived from consistent hyperthermia treatment and more. Possibly, most importantly, I delineate the differences between infrared saunas and red light therapy and emphasize the importance of not doing red light therapy and sauna simultaneously! This is especially important to understand and appreciate, as I have seen more and more often that infrared sauna companies are incorporating red light therapy (either for ambience lighting and/or actual red light therapy panels and other devices inside of the sauna). Long story short: the heat from the sauna inhibits the benefits you would otherwise obtain from red light therapy.
Lastly, we will cover a very, very hot-off-the-press photobiomodulation research article that looks at red light therapy for treating children with premyopia. In a world with exponentially increased screen time, particularly in youths, any type of alternative modality to help prevent, stave off and reverse eye and vision issues is a massive deal. If you have eyes, this study has some groundbreaking results that you will want to learn about.
I hope you enjoy the information in today's solosode. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful. As always, light up (and sweat out) your health!

Research: Concussions, Plantar Fasciitis, Primary Mitochondrial Diseases, & Methylene Blue & Toluidine Blue Combats Cancer
This week we are going to dig into some interesting research I've been compiling the last several months (and I have plenty more where this came from!). We will cover an array of our favorite topics in red light therapy, mitochondria and methylene blue.
We will first look at a piece of research that discusses primary mitochondrial diseases (PMDs); however, the article is directed towards physicians and how they can start to recognize patterns and red flags associated with various PMDs (i.e., mitochondrial dysfunction). To me this is extremely exciting in the sense that this type of mitochondrial information is (slowly but surely) permeating its way into the allopathic world. It can't happen fast enough! The second article looks at methylene blue and a new, yet quite similar synthetic dye salt, blue compound called toluidine blue. The study looks at how when used together, they have a synergistic effect against oral squamous cell carcinoma. I need to know more about toluidine blue! The third article looks at the effect of transcranial photobiomodulation on concussions. This study is a perfect example of a "non-result" not necessarily being a bad thing or that is should be taken at face value. I will discuss why.The last, and likely most relevant, study I review is on red light therapy's impact on reducing pain and improving function with plantar fasciitis (PF). I've personally never dealt with PF, but I have treated it countless times as a physical therapist and know many other people that have dealt with it -- long story short, it is not fun in the slightest and is incredibly easy for it to become a chronic and/or recurring issue. Red light therapy certainly has a role to play with PF. And, based on my experience, cupping may be one of the BEST modalities in the fight against PF. Did anyone say ReVamp cupping system for combined red light therapy and cupping?
As always, enjoy the information and light up your health!

Health & Wellness Benefits of Cupping: From Supple Fascia to Anti-aging Skin & Beyond!
It seems that (rather unintentionally) at the beginning of each year, I begin with some episodes on some interesting and novel topics. Two years ago it was reviewing a book on extensive and profound research from the late 1800s to mid-1900s on how light entering our eyes affects virtually every system in our body. Last year, we took a deep dive into the world of grounding (aka, earthing) and its many wonderful and electron-rich benefits. To begin this year, I want to introduce you all into the world of cupping. Some of you are likely familiar with cupping and may even be using it on yourself and/or clients/patients. Personally, I found it to be an indispensable tool with my patients and on myself, particularly in combination with dry needling and red light therapy. But it seems that it is still a highly underutilized tool, both by practitioners and the public alike. Perhaps some of that comes from its heavily holistic background that may give it an aura of being mystical. Others may think that it's a therapy you need to be certified in and/or heavily educated in. But I am hear to tell you that it is exceptionally similar to red light therapy in that it is extremely safe and a "very low risk, high reward" modality.
In this episode, we will cover all aspects of cupping -- from its history to how it became popular to what it can help with to how it can be used and even how combining it with red light therapy may give you the best of both worlds. Any and all athletes/exercise enthusiasts MUST be including this in their performance and recovery regimen and, equally importantly, anyone and everyone can attain profound health and wellness benefits by cupping on a regular basis. Listen to the end to hear about BioLight's newest product and how it seamlessly combines the advantages of the negative pressure vacuum mechanism of cupping and the mitochondrial-boosting properties of red light therapy into one simple and sleek modality. It's simply a game changer for athletes and health enthusiasts alike!
As always, light up (and, now, cup) your health!

Top 10 Benefits of Methylene Blue [Top Episode of 2023!]
As we visit the third and final "Top Episode of 2023", we will turn our attention to our relatively new best red light therapy friend: methylene blue! For those of you that have already heard this episode and/or are familiar with this polarizing substance, this episode is a fantastic review; for those of you that are less familiar, this is a great introduction into the vast potential of methylene blue....
Let's get blue on today's solosode of The Red Light Report! The last couple of weeks you have likely heard and/or learned about BioLight's newest innovative product, BioBlue, which is an enhanced methylene blue and mitochondrial supplement. Some of you are even using it right now! But I felt it would behoove all of us to take a deeper dive into this mysterious synthetic textile dye that happens to seemingly be one of the most profound health, wellness and mitochondrial-boosting substances available. And it is a major synergist when combined with red light therapy!
So today, I thought it would be great to review the top 10 uses for methylene blue, as professed by scientific research. And while I don't want to give away too much in this intro, I feel obliged to tell you a few of the things that I find most exciting and promising about methylene blue:1.) Secondary to its ease of crossing the blood-brain barrier, a vast majority of the methylene blue consumed concentrates in the brain, which is why it has virtually endless brain health benefits (i.e., reduced symptoms of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, dementia, depression, PTSD and improved cognition, mood and energy);2.) Methylene blue has an innate intelligence to help whichever cells are most sick, diseased and/or cancerous first before moving along and helping other healthier cells;3.) There are only two known interventions capable dissociating nitric oxide from the cytochrome c oxidase (which then allows oxygen into the mitochondria for more efficient energy production; remember, the more energy in a cell = less disease state/more vitality in cell): red light therapy and methylene blue.
Remember, none of this information is a substitute for medical advice. But just like when I learned about red light therapy for the first time and was in awe at its endless health benefits, I am equally impressed by the limitless potential of methylene blue. Both are safe, efficacious and likely have a pivotal role to play for anyone looking to optimize their health and longevity.
As always, (red) light up your (blue) health!
