3 Successful Writers with Multiple Streams of Income
Today, I want to share three writers who are great examples of what we’ve been talking about in this series. Each of them has a clear message for a specific audience, they use multiple platforms to share their content, they create content consistently (including multiple books), they have been expanding their network for years, and they have used their writing and books as a basis for building multiple streams of income. On this episode, you’ll be encouraged by three examples of successful writers who utilize multiple streams of income to build and grow their businesses. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. How Does the Writer's Path Benefit Your Business?
We’ve spent the last couple of weeks talking about several milestones in The Writer’s Path. I want to emphasize again that these are not necessarily sequential in the sense that you can’t move on to the next one until the current one is completed. Rather, these are all just pieces of the larger puzzle of a writing business, and you will continually refine them as you go along. Today I want to share three primary benefits of approaching your writing business in the way I’ve suggested, using The Writer’s Path: On this episode, you’ll discover three key ways that The Writer’s Path transforms your business and your life. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. Milestone #7: Practice Key Habits for Wellness, Productivity & Success
Now we’ve come to the final milestone in The Writer’s Path, which is simply this: Practice key habits for wellness, productivity, and success. Why it’s important: Without key habits, you will burn out or have some sort of a train wreck. I have seen it too many times in my life. I have even seen it the last few years with some writers and entrepreneurs I know who got very successful, then they crashed and burned in their personal lives. On this episode, Kent shares why it’s vital to create habits that increase your physical, emotional, mental, and relational health and help you strengthen your relationships. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. Milestone #6: Create Streams of Income Based on Your Writing & Services
So far, we have talked about getting clear on your message and audience, choosing your platforms, writing consistently, publishing books, and expanding your network. Once you have those in place, then you are ready to take advantage of Milestone #6: Create streams of income based on your writing and services. Why it’s important: All of the successful writers I know personally have multiple streams of income. This mitigates risk and lets you grow several streams that can support you. They are also intertwined, and if you think like a business owner, you can always create new streams. On this episode, Kent shares why creating multiple streams of income is key to your success and how you can maximize your client work and your IP. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. Milestone #5: Expand Your Network of Friends, Fans & Connections
We’ve talked about several steps in the Writer’s Path, and today we’ll focus on Milestone #5: Expanding your networking of friends, fans, and connections. Why it’s important: One of the biggest things that holds back great writers is not knowing how to network and build relationships. I have learned a lot from Vincent Pugliese in this regard. He leads the Total Life Freedom community and mastermind, and he’s recently released a fantastic book called The Wealth of Connection, which I highly recommend. It will help you develop a mindset of networking and building relationships. On this episode, you’ll discover that one of the most valuable things you can do for your writing business—and your well-being—is connecting with others and expanding your network. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. Milestone #4: Publish & Market Books That Solve Problems for Your Readers
So far in this series, we have looked at the importance of getting clear on your audience and message, building the platforms where you will share your content, and writing consistently. That brings us to Milestone #4: Publishing and marketing books that solve problems for your reader. Why it’s important: Books give you credibility and authority that you cannot get any other way. Books are also a super convenient way for you to share your wisdom with people. On this episode, Kent shares what you should focus on as you write to solve problems for your readers. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. A Declaration Worth Making
On July 4th, 1776, the Second Continental Congress pronounced that it was officially independent of British rule. Known as the Declaration of Independence, this document made it clear that the thirteen colonies had their own sovereign identity. They would no longer be content to stay under the rule of another entity. July 4th is a uniquely American holiday, but there is another kind of declaration that every writer should make, no matter their nationality. On this special July 4th episode, you’ll be emboldened to make your own declaration, just like the Americans who declared their independence in 1776. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. Milestone #3: Write Consistent Content That Helps Readers
So far, we have talked about getting specific on your core message and audience, and building the platforms where you will share your content. Now let’s look at Milestone #3: Write consistent content that helps your readers. Why it’s important: When you write consistent material, specifically blog posts, it helps your SEO (search engine optimization) and also builds an audience. It’s impossible to build an audience, and to create loyal readers, without actually producing content consistently. On this episode, you’ll recognize the power of consistent content creation in your business and writing. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most. Milestone #2: Build the Platforms Where You Will Share Your Content
Yesterday, we talked about the importance of getting specific about your core message and audience. Let’s move on to Milestone #2: Build the platforms where you will share your content. Why it’s important: When you see other successful writers, it might seem like you should be everywhere. But that’s not the case. The ones who do seem to be everywhere probably have assistants creating a lot of that content, which is totally fine. I have an assistant, also, but that’s only been for the last year or so. Up until then, I did everything myself. On this episode, you’ll discover which platforms you need to build to share your content. *** Check out my NEW book: 18 Words to Live By: A Father’s Wisdom on What Matters Most.
