Open Discussion Forum: Cycling Training, Cycling Tips, Sharing Cycling Knowledge; You Into This?

If this is something that interests you, please let me know: Brendan@EVOQ.BIKE On our EVOQ Coaches call, we realized that we often go down some worm holes (that I haven't been recording; shame on me), and Craig made a great point: maybe we want to open this up to others? We'd select a topic, you bring a question, or you just come and listen. We set aside one hour, and we talk training and racing. This is just a concept as of now, but I think it could be really awesome. Stay tuned, and let us know if you're into this. https://youtu.be/chLgtqcBSBo

Changing Gym Lifts, Improve Weakness or Double Down on Strengths? Cycling Schedule. Block 5 To Race!

Block 5 of Five Blocks To Racing. This one is more to ask some questions of yourself that you can apply to your own training and subsequent bike races; whenever those are happening. Truly, this is choose your own adventure, as there are a myriad of ways to play through this block. Gym: Lift 2x a week through B and C priority races. I've shifted lifts to endurance ride days as opposed to hard interval days, simply to have maximum energy for the last set (like 40 minutes into the session). Also, I don't want my body to adapt to only going hard when I've lifted in the morning; that won't be possible for me on race day! Double down on strengths or work on weaknesses? Find out which one gives you a better chance of doing well at your big event, or events! Remember, if you don't have an A race, but are more getting primed for a whole series, the schedule will lay out differently. Brendan @EVOQ. Frank Overton, FasCat Coaching: Cycling Training Tips, Athlete Mindset, Interval Training, Coaching!

Frank and I caught up a bit. Chatting for the first 3 minutes, then we get into the history of FasCat! Even though I was a FasCat athlete wayyyy back in the day, I learn some awesome pearls about Frank!   We get full on into training around 15 minutes in.   What are some of the big things that you've seen change in training?   At the amateur level, should you become a specialist, or all around racer?   The difference in coaching and providing advice to amateurs and World Tour cyclists.   Here’s that pesky mindset again: “observe their mindset to their daily practice of following the plan, executing their intervals. And are they a positive person? Are they negative person? Do they wear their last workout on their shoulder day to day?”   “how are they going to react to that Crux moment of a race, where it's do or die?”   Setting the athlete up for success with intervals.   “If you want to get faster, determine how much you've been riding, and, and increase that overall training load.”   Yearly kilojoules.   Being a lifer for maximum success in cycling and any endurance sport. Try not to run super hot!   Frank’s top tips for recovery!    Do you think I can handle Colorado's Gucci Gravel? I'm glad Frank has some faith in me! Brendan@EVOQ.BIKE
