Oakey Mountain Road Race: Poor Positioning on Climb, Tactics, Skipping Training Intervals, Sprints, Ep #246

Caught up with podcast guest @_YAMES aka James via email after the race. Chatted on some details regarding the breakaway formation. Some of the recap reminded me of how it's easy for us to want to turn home early when the intervals aren't getting CRUSHED. Don’t skip the last intervals; they’re like the end of a bike race! Quick topic thoughts: The matches that accumulate over time Will anyone try to split up hot tubes once the break formed? Putting myself in a poor position behind Nate Brown; mistake. When do I stop contributing: once I get attacked and can’t follow! Mind games to overpower the cramps Sprint finish. Congrats Hot Tubes! https://youtu.be/sAm8aAsyR_k

Communicate, even if it’s with yourself, the self-coached athlete.

And if You’re paying for coaching and no one is talking to you, that’s not ideal.

Long video! Please subscribe to the video and tell a friend! Minute 0-5m: intro and setting the stage 5m - 20m: the training leading up to the race, along with some strategies for your race prep in terms of tapering. 20m - 45m: race, strategy, tons of comments. Such a great weekend Lots to cover from the pre-race lead up, metrics and strategy for the race, and a whole lot more. Pre-race: be nimble with the training plan. Heat training and endurance rides. Race First 50 minutes were incredible fast. Watched early moves, and monitored how long of a leash was given. Breaking down the bridge move, the analytics from the larger group on the last lap, and then what happened after we get caught. Played the best hand available to me, and leaving this one super motivated for the rest of the season, and beyond! Brendan@EVOQ.BIKE https://youtu.be/kod4O7LGLXA
