This week on Black on Black Cinema: In 1975 a movie was released entitled Boss Nigger, and the world was never the same. Directed by a Jack Arnold and written by and starring Fred Williamson, Boss Nigger is a quintessential blaxploitation film. This is Django Unchained before Django Unchained existed. Chock full of offensive stereotypes of Blacks, Whites, and Mexicans in the post-slavery western United States. From the highly quotable one liners to the over the top action, Boss Nigger is a must watch.

The film deals with a Black sheriff and his deputy in the Western United States some time soon after the end of slavery. The movie also deals with the enforcing of "Black Laws" throughout the town full of White folks. Action packed and full of classic blaxploitation moments the movie runs the line between dealing openly with racial issues and not being consumed by them when telling an entertaining story.
