"Wear pantyhose, the boys love it!" | Life at Commonwealth Baptist College

Jen Lord found security, acceptance, and love within the IFB at a young age – but she realized quickly how conditional it could be. She eventually ended up at Commonwealth Baptist College in Kentucky, where she noticed even more of the confusing demands being placed on everyone, particularly on the women. She shares about how she learned to stop pursuing approval from others, the steps she's taken to exit the movement, and what she would say to those who find themselves in similar situations and ministries. "I Just Wanted to Be Loved" | Life at the New Beginnings Girls Academy

Brianna Nellor joins Preacher Boys host, Eric Skwarczynski to discuss her youth experience and the time she spent at the New Beginnings Girls Academy. The victim of a troubled childhood, Brianna was constantly passed around from family member to family member, had run-ins with the law, and was eventually sent to the New Beginning's Girls Academy in Pace, FL. While being sent to the NBGA for the second time at around 17, she was tricked into prostitution and was being sold on Craigslist. She eventually ended up back at the New Beginnings Girls Academy, and, rather than receiving the medical and emotional treatment she needed, was used as an example and treated poorly by the staff, eventually dumped at a bus stop with no information. The Difficulty of Coming Forward About Sexual Abuse in the IFB

Today's episode, Eric is joined by former IFB member, Rebecca Foltz. Rebecca shares about her experiences at churches at Northern California, Southern California, and Nevada, as well as at Golden State Baptist College in Santa Clara, CA. Rebecca was sexually assaulted three times in thirty years, with two actively covered up by Hopewell Baptist Church in Napa Valley, CA, and the other by a church in San Diego. When she reached out to her former college president, pastor, and friend Jack Trieber about the third assault, he told her it was innapropriate to discuss and to do whatever her pastor told her to do. Her pastor – on the counsel of the Christian Law Association – ended up firing her for it. Safely Leaving a Domestic Abuse Situation with Heather & Zack Knight

Your host, Eric Skwarczynski, is joined by Heather and Zack Knight. Heather Knight is currently serving as the founder and chair of Surviving to Thriving, an Atlanta based non-profit that provides a long-term sustainability program for victims of domestic violence. The passion for domestic violence awareness and prevention started from a personal situation in her teen years and then grew into a career in law enforcement. She recently left the police department after founding Surviving to Thriving in order to dedicate more time to her podcast of the same name and to teach the headlining program of R.A.D. Women’s Self-Defense. Zack Knight is currently an Infantry Lieutenant and platoon leader in the United States Army Georgia National Guard. His time spent in the Army has involved extensive training in risk assessment and mitigation techniques that have been proven in the most intense environments. Prior to joining the Army, Zack spent seven years serving as a police officer in the Smyrna community where he grew up. These years were spent receiving the best crime detection and prevention training law enforcement has to offer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Penn Foster University and is currently enrolled at American Military University, where he is completing a master’s program in business administration (MBA) with a concentration in security management. He is also a Physical Security Professional (PSP®), a credential that indicates he is an industry leader in physical security with a specialization in threat analysis. Zack founded Knight Protection Services as a way to truly protect and serve, by providing solutions that deter crimes and prevent citizens from victimization. Trapped Inside the New Beginnings Girls Academy, Pace FL

Amber Johnson shares her harrowing experiences within the New Beginnings Girls Academy that once called Pace, Florida it's home. After attempting suicide, she was sent to the school, locked away in isolation, taken off her anti-depressants and given no permission to speak. Just one year later – and with no prior religious background – she was so scared of hell and judgement that she stayed at the school even after her 18th birthday, fearing that she would fall away into sin once she left. Amber charts her tragic journey and her final days within the IFB... attending Hyles-Anderson College during the time that Pastor Jack Schaap was arrested for a sexual relationship with a minor.
