This week's episode is a replay of the most downloaded podcast episode. It ran in early 2022. In it, John interviews Dr. Paul Hercock, the CEO of Mantra Systems. Paul is an expert at how to land a medical device company job, particularly in the European Union. He wrote a book about it called "Beyond The Ward: A Doctor's Guide to Careers Outside the NHS." During his interview, Paul explains that his company is a consultancy business that provides medical and regulatory support to medical device companies. To do so, it employs physicians as medical advisors. And to fill the need for physicians to fill these positions, he built a training program for physicians interested in pursuing a job in the industry. However, some of the more advanced aspects of a LinkedIn page are often overlooked. LinkedIn can be very useful for adding new contacts and networking with them. Since more than half of those looking for a new job find a job through a personal referral rather than by applying online, expanding one's network will enhance your job search. LinkedIn also serves as a job board, with millions of job postings. And it facilitates the process of working with recruiters. When he worked as a hospital CMO, there was always a new consulting firm or two working for the organization. And many of the teams included physician consultants. Dr. Gazzara attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and completed his internship at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a General Practitioner who has been practicing in telemedicine for five and a half years. Over that time, he has been promoted to a number of leadership roles including Medical Director and Supervising Physician Leader. In spite of the progress he made in his career, he has faced challenges during his medical education and professional life as a result of his vision impairment. In this week's episode, John interviews Dr. Ryan Bayley. He first appeared on the show over 4 years ago to talk about his experiences as a business and success coach. Since then, the part of his practice that seems to be growing the fastest is helping to address or prevent disruptive or inappropriate behavior. Dr. Bayley realized that a growing number of physicians were being put on administrative leave. And their licenses to practice medicine were being suspended or revoked. When he looked for books on the subject that he could share with physicians, he couldn't find any. So, he decided to write his own. That book was published recently, and Ryan joins me to cover many of the topics he wrote about. He describes why the system is becoming more dangerous, how to avoid exposing yourself, and what to do if you find yourself accused of disruptive behavior or of breaching personal boundaries.
