The recent 'Beagle Gate' story of NIH torturing beagles has hit a lot of people hard, on all sides of the political spectrum. Savage has long been a defender of animal rights and wildlife protection, and shares his story of giving up a lucrative fellowship because he couldn't bring himself to murder lab animals. He talks with a fabulous guest, Justin Goodman of the White Coat Waste project (https://www.whitecoatwaste.org) who uncovered the NIH "sand fly" studies using strapped down beagles as food for hungry sand flies. Goodman shares a lot of important info: e.g., NIH devotes about $20 Billion per year on animal research, much of it for testing drugs that the FDA doesn't even require animal testing for approval. They also conduct ghoulish experiments creating psychological stress in primates. They justify their work as being "applicable to humans" while at the same time saying "animals don't feel what we feel". Halloween is here and it's bigger than Independence Day, or even Christmas. How did this happen? Savage talks with Neil Hansen, an Air America pilot who flew the last plane to freedom out of Cambodia during the communist revolution of the 1970s. They cover the abominable Khmer Rouge takeover, and the concept of "crisis" which is the first step to subverting a country from within. Hansen agrees with Savage that the Biden administration, as controlled by Bernie Sanders and 'the squad' in Congress, are a lot like the architects of the Cambodian revolution. The Khmer Rouge was a militia made up of murderous, vicious young Cambodians, named for the red scarves they wore. Sound like ANTIFA? They were armed while the population was disarmed. Sound like Biden's gun grab?  The Khmer Rouge mostly killed middle class doctors and lawyers and educated entrepreneurs -- basically "anyone who wore eyeglasses". Sound like the assault on white people? They beheaded victims and displayed the heads on fence posts. Somewhere between 1.5 and 2 million people were killed, leading to a mountain of skulls. Savage recounts the story of one survivor who has spent his life seeking justice for family members he lost, and for the old man who saved his life by convincing prison guards to free him but sacrificed his own life in the process. The podcast also includes a classic interview with Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB defector who explained "ideological subversion" for killing countries from within. Today's title plays on a deeply rooted American concept. The "West" was "won" by hardy pioneers in covered wagons, who lived in houses made of sod and built mighty railroads that connected a continent. They saved freedom in Europe (twice!) then returned to work hard and raise families. As the battle against COVID-19 wears on, another controversy is sweeping the nation. Ivermectin Yes or No? Some mock it as "horse paste", while others swear it's a magic cure. The truth probably lies somewhere in between and SAVAGE aims to get to the TRUTH. Several randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses have now shown that Ivermectin has promise not just as an antiviral but also as an anti-inflammatory.
