At CPAC 2019, Sovereign Nations gathered speakers from various positions and backgrounds to address issues surrounding the postmodern deconstruction of the greater evangelical church. First, Sovereign Nations’ Founder Michael O'Fallon addressed the “top-down, bottom-up, and inside-out” strategies used by those wanting to create civilizational and societal change. Mr. O’Fallon explained the “top-down” strategies as being legislative and enforceable, the “bottom-up” being reflexive movements created through fertile fallacies, and the middle being the “glue” that holds our society together: national pastimes, patriotism, culture, and uniquely within America - the Christian Faith. Ambassador Alan Keyes focused on the understanding that the entirety of the grievance movement, intersectionality, and social justice violated the essential understanding of the Imago Dei and the Declaration. As Dr. Keyes so eloquently put it: “I basically learned to love America because of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence is premised on that we are all created and that that means that I am NOT in my identity the result of my own passion, the result of my own choice, the result of an oppressors choice to brutalize my family or my ancestors or myself. What I am is the result of the will and power and loving intention of Almighty God: He told me what that intention is on the very first page practically of his word. That He made me to be in the image and likeness of God to reflect the power that is beyond all powers and the will that can constrain all wills producing the future that can encompass every hope and every dream and every possibility of that humanity that he made me to be in to achieve which one of their powers and their verbiage and their nonsense can be the equal of this identity that I bear. Postmodern thought has now made inroads into what until very recently, were conservative, Biblical Christian circles, all with the smiling face of “social justice.” The rapidity with which these deadly ideas have spread from the culture at large into churches and Christian organizations is truly shocking - all with an ever-present progressive political undertone that has become noticeable as the movement has gained steam. While the French postmodernists, Derrida and Foucault, will not be immediately familiar to many citizens of western culture, their collective concepts have wreaked havoc amongst the socio-political and educational landscape in North America over the past decade. As our secular educational institutions have become battlegrounds to “tear down the patriarchy” and to “root out white privilege,” this same battle has emerged within the most conservative of strongholds of the Christian church catching many congregants and seminarians unaware. With this in mind, Sovereign Nations held its third purposed event titled “Social Justice & The Gospel: The God-breathed Hierarchy and the Postmodern Crisis within the Church.” It is our hope that these assembled scholars will help to elucidate the primary issues and concerns of this dangerous movement.
