With this episode we launch a new series related to my book 15 NT Words of Life. I interview expert scholars on various theological themes in the NT. First up, Dr. David Capes (Lanier Library) on the concept of righteousness in the Gospel of Matthew. 

Nijay chats with Dr. Jeannine Brown (Bethel Seminary) about two of her newest books, one on hermeneutics (Scripture as Communication) and the other on Philippians (Tyndale New Testament Commentary). 

Nijay and Dr. Emerson Powery talk about his new book on the Parable of the Good Samaritan. They also discuss biblical hermeneutics, African-American interpretation, reception studies, and more.

Dr. Michael Gorman published an excellent new commentary (Eerdmans, 2022). Nijay and Mike talk about theological interpretation of Romans, commentary research and writing, and Romans scholarship. 

Nijay talks to Dr. Dennis R. Edwards (North Park Theological Seminary) about 1 Peter and other New Testament topics. Edwards is author of the 1 Peter volume in the Story of God Bible Commentary and is also has a forthcoming book on a theology of humility.

In this engaging conversation, Dr. Michael J. Gorman, a leading expert on Paul and the cross, shares insights from over 20 years of scholarship. He discusses his influential work 'Cruciformity' and its implications for the Christian life. Topics include the essence of cruciformity as a guiding principle, the interconnectedness of participation in Christ and ethics, and how believers can embody Christ's values in community. Gorman critiques individualism in modern churches and emphasizes the transformative power of the cross in discipleship.
