James Cook, English explorer and navigator, arrives in Tahiti to conduct a survey of the Transit of Venus. He builds relations with the locals, navigates cultural differences, and sets up observatories to prepare for the observation. Cook and his men explore Tahiti, encountering warfare and theft. They then set sail southwards in search of Terra Australis.
