In today's episode, we conclude a mini two-part series on the topic of the "Shadow" and how it relates to the development of Western Civilization. Here, we consider how the rise of capitalist oligarchies in Europe relates to the philosophical idea of the "Shadow". In particular, we look at the Venetian bankers and the Italian super-companies of the Middle Ages and consider how they symbolize the rise of a great collective Shadow Complex obtaining dominion over European consciousness. Democracy is the "Hero" who must fight and overcome this "Adversary" or "Shadow". In today's episode, we continue our series on America by investigating the story of the rise and fall of the Inca civilization of Peru. Things begin with a recap of the "Cycle of the Arya" thesis that I've been exploring throughout this year-long book project on Philosophy. Then, we zoom in and look at the Inca as a case study of this larger pattern. We finish with a discussion of the psychology of race, comparing and contrasting it with that of "the nation".As I argue, the democratic "nation" is inherently post-racial, as it is premised upon the mixing of races and the development of cooperative initiative. In today's episode we continue our series on the "deep" history of America by examining the theme of democracy, which has been experimented with here in the Western Hemisphere for thousands of years before the time of the American Revolution. In this episode, we explore how democracy existed not only during the golden age of the Maya, an idea we first introduced in Part 1, but also with the Iroquois tribe of North American Indians. Here, the sage and prophet Deganawida established the League of Five Nations, which emphasized democratic institutions here in North America one or two hundred years before the arrival of the European colonizers. In today's episode we're kicking off a new series/chapter titled "America, Land of the Feathered Serpent". The overall theme of this series is to establish a timeline of civilization in the Americas, beginning with the prehistoric empire of Atlantis and moving down through the time of the American Revolution - an event that Francis Bacon, the protagonist of our previous chapter/series, played a big part in organizing from behind the scenes. The topic of the American Revolution is one that we will be revisiting in a later article in this series. For this initial article, we will be setting the stage for that later discussion by first examining the history of America from the largest perspective and greatest point of view. Here we will look at the transition of ages between Atlantis and the Arya and investigate how these changes affected the development of civilization in the Western Hemisphere .
