On May 3, 2007 the McCann family were on holiday at a resort in Praia da Luz, (located in the Algarve area of Portugal) when their 3 year old daughter Madeleine disappeared from her bed. The Snowtown murders (also known as the bodies in barrels murders) were a series of murders committed by John Bunting, Robert Wagner and James Vlassakis between August 1992 and May 1999, in and around Adelaide, South Australia.
