How to Get Clarity, Focus, and Balance Starting Monday Morning

The first quarter of 2018 is nearly over. That’s 25% of the year gone. Are you where you thought you’d be at this point? Are you on track with your goals?   Are you still looking for more clarity and focus in your life? Thinking that it will come after you just get through this week or this month or this year? Or maybe if you just listen to one more podcast. Or read one more book? Well, I’ve got news for you… it won’t. Not unless you take real, concrete action to MAKE it happen. If you're looking to get clear on your goals and learn how to create a plan to achieve them then join me and 5 other motivated, high performers to learn a powerful 4-step system starting this Monday. It’s all delivered 100% virtually so you don’t have to go anywhere. It's called Reveal Your Path and I've now guided dozens of individuals through it- including professional athletes, Olympians, neurosurgeons, MBA’s, college coaches, educators, salespeople and others - resulting in clarity, focus and balance in their lives so that they can get the right things done and stop trying to be everything to everyone. They’ve been able to start businesses, reconnect with their kids and spouses, find balance, get promotions, lose weight, create new habits and break old ones… and they’ve found the clarity and consistency they were looking and are now confident that they’re taking the right action because they’re seeing results like better relationships, increased income and more time in the day. Reveal Your Path isn’t for everyone. But if you’re sitting there feeling like you’re pulled in too many different directions and like you have more potential than you’re currently fulfilling, then Reveal Your Path is for you. When you learn the system, you become one of us… a group of like-minded individuals who have found our paths and are living our lives differently so that we can rise above the mediocrity that surrounds us. We call ourselves Pathfinders. Here’s what a few Pathfinders are saying… Eric said… Just wanted to shoot you a message. RYP was exactly what I have needed to get things back on track. It's awesome to see the changes I have been making paying off so quickly!   Isaac said.. “I love this version of myself the most and I’ll do anything to keep this going.”   Neal said... “I’m shattering the goals I’ve set for myself already. I feel pretty much unstoppable. Every aspect of my life has been affected positively.”   Jared said… “There's no comparison in terms of the money spent to the value received. RYP has left me with the clarity I was searching for with my goals, the direction I need to head in many areas, and a tangible plan to get there!" Do you feel like Jared, Neal, Isaac or Eric? Or do you feel like you’re just trying to survive? Do you want to feel organized, hungry and driven? Another Pathfinder said, “"I feel like I have taken a huge leap forward. Like I went straight from first gear to fourth gear."   What would going from first gear to fourth gear feel like in your life? What would that feel like that this very moment? What would that feel like tomorrow morning when you wake up? Where will you be in a year from now? Will you be stuck? Or will you commit to making it happen? If you’ve heard me talk about RYP before and have considered it but just haven’t taken the leap, I just want to give you this heads up. If you’re thinking You can’t afford it, consider what Jared said… There's no comparison in terms of the money spent to the value received. Or what Eric told me… I would pay double what I did to be where I am today.   Here’s what I want you to do next… go to JimHarshawJr.com/coaching then click the SignUp button. Again that’s JimHarshawJr.com/coach. Do this and You will have taken the necessary action to making your life what you know it can be. I’ll take it from there and we’re going to do this together. Again, jimharshawjr.com/coachin and let’s get started!

#135 Solutions For Your Life: How to Discover What Works Best for Getting Results

Stop chasing shiny objects and use this tactic. When I was an elite college wrestler, I was always looking for an edge. I was looking for a way to be better. To score more points. To win more matches. To achieve my goals. The solution was never dramatic. It was fundamental. I'd heard it a thousand times before but for some reason hadn't fully incorporated it into my repertoire. But the solution was always right in front of me. It wasn't sexy. It wasn't exciting. It wasn't glamorous. It was back to the basics. It was hard work. It was keeping my head up and my elbows in. It was practicing positive self-talk. It was eating better. It was watching a film. It's the same for you. Everything you need is right in front of you. Slow down and you’ll see it. #131 Why Some People "Have It All." (Or The Problem With A Single-Minded Focus)

Can You Really Have It All? Yes. Here's How. I grew up thinking that only other people could have it all. Health, wealth, happiness and all of the good things in life that come with them. In my youth, I believed that having it all was only for other kids and people. As an adolescent, I believed that only others could have self-confidence. As a wrestler, I believed only others could win the state championship. As a young adult, I believed that only others could be wealthy. There always seemed to be something missing from my life that others had. And I wanted it. So I set out to chase it. I started a company called Riot Sports Marketing. (Some of my readers will remember me from those days!) This was my way out. This was my way to freedom. To wealth. To total happiness and fulfillment. I sunk myself into my work. I closed off other areas of my life so that I could focus on getting "there." For 2 1/2 years, I kept my head down and worked on that company. I put everything into it. I had an investor and so it wasn't just all I had but some of what others had too. After years of toil, it failed. When I finally shutter the business and lifted my head, my life was a mess. That which I set out to attain was further away than ever. My relationship with Ali was broken. I was deep in debt. I wasn't spending enough time with my amazing children. And I was in the worst physical condition of my life. My desire to chase what I wanted ironically took me the opposite direction. My desire to chase what I thought would bring me happiness brought me only brokenness. Trying to have it all took me in the wrong direction. The problem wasn't that I wanted to find happiness and fulfillment. The problem wasn't that I was trying to have it all. The problem wasn't that I worked really, really hard at something that I was passionate about. The problem was that I'd only worked in one area of my life. I had a single-minded focus. When I was an All American college wrestler, that single-minded focus is what helped me achieve my goal. However, no longer could I afford to use the same strategy. Somewhere deep inside, you know that you can't either. You know that you have too many things pulling at you. Too many priorities. But what are the right ones? Through research, testing and teaching, I've discovered the four areas of your life where you must focus your attention in order to have it all. Here they are (in this order): -Relationships: Whether you read it in the Bible or you read it in the results of Harvard's Grant Study, one of the longest longitudinal studies of adult life, the evidence is conclusive that relationships are the most important ingredient of happiness. (podcast- refer to action plan for link to fascinating TED Talk about it) Interestingly, in a couple of my recent mastermind calls with my Reveal Your Path Pro groups, nearly every one of the men identified a one-on-one interaction as their highest value activity, both at home and at work. Whether it was putting their kids to bed or meeting with clients, it is people that are most important to us both personally and professionally. Simply put, if you want to have it all, you must have clearly defined relationship goals and an action plan to achieve them. -Self: Nobody wants to be in a rut. Nobody wants to be stuck. We all want to be growing. We all want to be part of something bigger. We all want to have fun. That's why you must... you MUST... have goals around personal growth (learning a new skill), impact (volunteering or philanthropy) and/or fun (doing what you love to do). Health: It's no secret that health and fitness are important pieces to being happy. Look at anyone who you think has it all. They live a healthy lifestyle. Exercise and a proper diet improve brain function, focus, productivity, self-confidence as well as reduces stress, anxiety, and depression. There's no magic bullet. There's no shiny object. Just eat right and exercise. -Wealth: Everyone wants more money. Truth is, if you're reading this, you're doing pretty well. The median household income worldwide is $9,733. First, recognize that you are wealthy. Stop looking around you. Stop comparing yourself to what you see on Facebook, TV or in your neighbor's driveway. Second, if you want to accrue more wealth, you must have a plan to do so. There's nothing wrong with wanting more wealth so long as you don't have evil plans to take over the tri-state area (a joke for those with kids who watch Fineas and Ferb). While there are four areas of your life here, they are all connected. My point is, you can have it all. You can hit your sweet spot. You just have to define what it is, be grateful for what you currently have and continue to make progress toward what you want. You must first discover your core values. Second, you must align your goals with those values. Third, you must create your Environment of Excellence. Finally, you will need to have a systematic plan for following through on your goals. #130 How To Be Confident and Focused In Life with Dr. Isaiah Hankel

What is Fake Success and How to Avoid It Today I bring you, Dr. Isaiah Hankel. Long-time listeners will remember Isaiah from Episode #14. For those who need an introduction or a reintroduction, Isaiah is an internationally recognized speaker and author who helps individuals, teams, and organizations develop a more entrepreneurial mindset to accelerate their personal and business success. Isaiah’s unique background allows him to offer a scientific approach and tangible methodology to the pursuit of purpose, focus and other entrepreneurial values. Isaiah has worked extensively as a Fortune 500 consultant and with some of the world’s leading corporations. Long before getting his doctorate, Isaiah was a sheep farmer in rural Idaho who struggled in school and was diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. He survived college and barely made it into graduate school where he was quickly put on academic probation and forced to work as a janitor and sleep in a friend’s basement to make ends meet. Just a few years later, Isaiah formed three successful, multinational businesses and published his first book, Black Hole Focus. He’s back today to talk about his latest book, The Science of Intelligent Achievement: How Smart People Focus, Create and Grow Their Way to Success If you don’t have time to listen to the entire episode or if you hear something that you like but don’t have time to write it down, be sure to grab your free copy of the Action Plan from this episode-- as well as get access to action plans from EVERY episode-- at JimHarshawJr.com/Action/. #128 From Son of a Drug-Addicted Prostitute to Doctorate Degree: The Fascinating Life Story of Dr. Ben Williams

A Story of Heartbreak, Tragedy, and Finding Your Purpose. Today I bring you, Dr. Ben Williams. The principal at Ron Brown College Preparatory High School in Washington DC, Ben’s life has been anything but easy. At age 4, he and his younger brother, sons of a prostitute addicted to drugs, became wards of the state and entered the Nevada foster care system. At age 12 they were adopted and there was hope that their troubles were over. The reality was far from it. After just a couple of years, because of their father’s failing health, they found themselves living with their aunt. Ben’s brother Andre, struggling with behavior problems, found himself at a residential facility for troubled youth. In the ensuing years, Ben found his way successfully through high school and into one of the top public universities in the country, the University of Virginia. But just before Ben’s third year in college, Andre was killed by a drunk driver while crossing a road. Despite so many obstacles in his path, Ben received three degrees from the University of Virginia including his doctorate in education and administration. Ben’s challenging road has positioned him well to take the lead of the all-boys college preparatory school that he now heads. What I want to explore and what I want you the listener to learn is how Ben faced adversity only to come out on top.
