Kenny Xu's "An Inconvenient Minority" cuts against the grain of the current Asian American literary vogue of Ivy League MFA writing. Instead of inner emotional turmoil and racial confusion, Kenny's writing cuts to the heart of Asian American material interests. In particular, a fair shake at a top-flight education, long seen by many Asian Americans as the key to American life. Kenny joins Eliza and Teen (at the 30:00 mark) to talk about his book, and how the liberal progressive agenda does not serve the majority of Asian Americans or represent their preferences. Of course, this wouldn't be an Escape From Plan A episode without digging into differences in thinking and opinion. 'Blue Bayou' follows the events in the life of Korean-American adoptee Antonio LeBlanc (Justin Chon), his pregnant wife Kathy (Alicia Vikander) and her daughter Jessie (Sydney Kowalske) after they learn that Antonio is not an American citizen as they always believed and is faced with deportation to South Korea. The three then discuss the controversy surrounding the movie which centers on accusations that Chon did not get the permission of Adam Crapser and other deported and at risk of deportation adoptees to use details of their lives in the making of 'Blue Bayou'.
