Love, Your Immigrant Parents

Our parents are superheroes. One morning, after long deliberation, they decided they wanted a better life for their families and packed their bags, trading in their comfortable lives for challenging ones. They conquered the difficulty of an unfamiliar language, navigated the brand new culture, and explored countless communities to fit into the new country. They left behind their parents, their loved ones, their closest friends. They are immigrants, and they are our everyday inspirations. Today we dive deep into our parents’ immigration journeys, and discuss our experiences growing up with immigrant parents - from everything to being embarrassed about their broken English, to learning to express love through every way except saying the L word.*NOTES*12:00 Sponsorship, ok Crystal clarified with her mom: a sponsor was needed if you were going to school in the new country and needed a student visa (Crystal's parents were enrolling in Canadian university to get their Canadian master degrees). The sponsor would sign with the intent/proof that they could pay for the education. If the person coming to study in the new country already has enough money/proof that they can pay for the education, then they would not require a sponsor for their student visa.American student visa rules , Canadian student visa rules27:22 Pork Floss51:18 Mission Peak is referring to a 6 mile hike in Fremont, popular for the totem pole and beautiful view at the top. Parts of it are super steep and the trail has 0 shade - which is why Tanaya and Jeesoo are so astonished.Support the showFollow us on social media @eatyourcrustpod

A Day In The Life of Passion

Most newly working adults could probably relate - after the fluttering unfamiliarity of your first adult job dissipates, your 9-6 work schedule (how is that even legal anyways?!) with your 2-3 hour commute (which is terrible for your back) leaves you with no energy to do anything else except scroll through social media for 3 hours on your couch until you finally drag yourself to go shower. Trying to fit in all of your errands and housework on the weekends is easy enough, until you realize you need to leave time to hang out with your friends, hit the gym, maintain some hobbies. Is it just us, or does it feel impossible to do ALL of this and be as creative and adventurous as we were in college?Long ass intro aside, we want to let you know that - SAME. We feel you. Today we discuss how we keep our brains fresh and our hearts passionate as modern day working adults. Visit us at eatyourcrust.com for special content.Reach out to us @eatyourcrustpod on insta, twitter, facebook, or email us at eatyourcrustpod@gmail.com !Support the showFollow us on social media @eatyourcrustpod

A Little Privacy PLS

Find My Friends, Facebook ads, spam calls… They’re always watching you! Today we talk about how to find that perfect sweet spot between technology and privacy (if it even exists).*NOTES*16:13 “websites where you type in your name and address comes up” - Spokeo is one of the more well-known sites that store such information. 18:55 Facebook scandal is referring to what started with the Cambridge Analytica scandal, and has grown into a whole debacle over what companies can and can't do (and what they actually are doing) with our individual information. Now Facebook is tied up in various controversies and more scandals, honestly we can barely keep up now too.32:55 "use that voice" meaning the spam callers record your voice on the phone.37:25 If you want to see the videos of people hacking the spam callers' computers,YouTuber Kitboga has a collection of spam caller revenge videos.38:35 "receiving a gift card from spam callers" was remembered slightly wrong here; what happened was people would use the scam caller's tactics right back at them. Kitboga once again has an example of this.44:20 "deep fakes" are referring to convincingly doctored videos/images/audio using artificial intelligence (and often, an NVIDIA graphics card).Support the showFollow us on social media @eatyourcrustpod

(Warning, there are some creepy pics in the article)14:30 "White... something" Actually referring to what was called the "Blue Whale game/challenge", very similar to the "Momo challenge" but confirmed to be the cause of over 100 deaths in over 20 countries. 15:30 Meatsp*n, Blue W*ffle, 2 G*rls 1 C*p - NSFW!!! We strongly discourage you from looking this up.44:30 - Fashion Nova - A women's fashion eCommerce website marketed as being affordable and thicc-girl-friendly.
