Mothers are often tempted to feel that their work is unimportant. Unfortunately, a mother’s work is rarely appreciated. Few people know anything about her many worries and sorrows. Her days are occupied with an endless round of little duties, cleaning up messes, picking up toys and clothes. On this Mother’s Day, faithful Christian mothers, we want you to know that God has been with you, listening all your prayers, and although your name may not have been heard in the world, be assured, it is known in heaven.

Imagine living in primitive, tiny stone huts filled with smoke, poor ventilation, and almost no insulation. Many people who live in remote parts of Peru, have to endure these kinds of conditions, which are hazardous to their health. High in the Andes mountains, with snow and ice and freezing temperatures, many of the Quechua people, descendants of the Inca, do not live in warm, healthy homes, like we do in Canada. Recently, ADRA Canada got involved, helping these people in remote parts of the Andes mountains to build warm, well-ventilated houses for themselves and their families. Steve Matthews (Executive Director) and Peggy Caesar (Communication Specialist) from ADRA Canada tell us about the warm and healthy homes they have been building for the people of Peru.

Sandra and Ken Murphy faced one trial after another: their son was murdered, and later, Sandra was hit by an illness that caused her to become a double amputee and also to lose most of her fingers. Struggling to cope with the sadness and suffering, they went to their Father in Heaven for help. Ken and Sandra were not prepared for the abundant blessings and outpourings of love and support God sent their way.

Kienan is one of Paul and Tammy Hebert’s eight children, and when Paul went on national television requesting that the kidnapper return their son to a safe place, hours later they found Kienan in their home calm, unharmed and happy to be home. Later, Paul Hebert was able to sit down with the kidnapper and forgive him. What was that conversation like, and how had God been preparing Paul and others to deal with this crime in a way that caught the attention of people worldwide?

Let me ask you a personal question: If you have ever sinned against someone else, how did you feel? Guilty, ashamed, hopeless, like giving up. Some people even feel suicidal because they are so ashamed of themselves. Whenever you find yourself feeling like a hopeless failure, remember, God is with you, even when you don’t know it. He has a solution for you.

Perhaps you recall the words of the pop song: “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” I wonder how many people feel like they are looking for something, but don’t know what it is? Maybe you feel or have felt that way? I know I have. The Bible unashamedly states that the human heart is in fact looking for a connection, but we often don’t know where to find it.
