The Book of Daniel describes a man with a body like beryl, shining bright, which many believe is a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ. In Revelation 21 it is said that emerald is one of the foundations of the New Jerusalem. In Revelation 4, a rainbow shining like an emerald surrounded the throne in heaven.
