Pelagius Refutes Gavin Ortlund’s Claim About Augustine and Infant Baptism
In a recent video, Gavin Ortlund argues that the universal Church’s understanding of infant baptism is largely built on Augustine’s influence, suggesting that earlier views were inconsistent and unstable. In this episode, I challenge that claim head-on. By examining Pelagius’s letter to Pope Innocent I and the Council of Carthage’s response to the Donatists, we’ll see that the Church’s commitment to infant baptism was already clear and theologically grounded. Ironically, even Pelagius, Augustine’s theological opponent, affirms the necessity of infant baptism and that arrogant heretics wouldn't even deny the redemptive necessity of issuing baptism to children. On Earth as It Is in Heaven: How the Book of Revelation Shapes Our Liturgy
In this episode, Stephen and Pat dive into Revelation chapters 1–3 and explore the rich liturgical themes woven throughout the text. From the doxologies and priestly imagery of chapter 1 to the structured exhortations and heavenly promises in the letters to the seven churches, these chapters reveal early Christian worship in action. The Fundamentalist “Old-Time Religion” Wasn’t Old Enough for Me
Many Christians grow up believing that “old-time religion” — revival preaching, altar calls, and King James Bibles — represents the original faith of the apostles. But what happens when that version of Christianity is held up against the witness of the early Church? This episode explores the journey from Fundamentalist Baptist roots to the historic Apostolic Church. It highlights the convictions that Fundamentalism gets right — love for Scripture, moral clarity, and evangelistic zeal — while examining where it diverges from the faith practiced and preserved by the early Christians. Listeners are invited to consider key historical questions and to rediscover a Church that predates every modern denomination — a Church that was already ancient long before the first revival tent was ever pitched. If you'd like to donate to our ministry or be a monthly partner that receives newsletters and one on one discussions with Dr. Boyce, here's a link: https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=6381a2ee-b82f-42a7-809e-6b733cec05a7 #oldtimereligion, #apostolicfaith, #churchhistory, #earlychurch, #fundamentalism, #scriptureandtradition, #churchfathers, #historicchristianity, #bibleandtradition, #apostolicchurch, #christianorigins, #patristics, #ancientfaith, #faithjourney, #reclaimingchristianhistory

No, the Apostles Weren’t Made Up!
In this episode of FACTS, we confront the growing wave of hyper-skepticism that claims the apostles of Jesus never existed—let alone died for their faith. Stephen Boyce examines the historical and textual evidence for the lives, ministries, and martyrdoms of the apostles, drawing from the biblical texts and early Christian sources. Were the apostles invented to prop up a legend, or were they real men whose lives—and deaths—testified to something far more profound? Tune in as we dismantle modern mythicist arguments and make the historical case for the apostolic witness. If you'd like to donate to our ministry or be a monthly partner that receives newsletters and one on one discussions with Dr. Boyce, here's a link: https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=6381a2ee-b82f-42a7-809e-6b733cec05a7 Here is the link to the response on Inspiring Philosophy: https://www.youtube.com/live/LRUAoLr6Pjo?si=L54tRn1BdLa3POInHere is the original link to the claim: https://youtu.be/uhRtSHJt0m8?si=TbvsQaFWKEJ32Vra

From Sinai to the Spirit: The History of Pentecost
In this episode of FACTS, we trace the powerful story of Pentecost—from its Old Testament roots as the Feast of Weeks to its climactic fulfillment in Acts 2 with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We’ll explore how Pentecost marks the birth of the Church, the reversal of Babel, and the commissioning of the apostles. Finally, we examine how the early church fathers understood and celebrated this feast, with insights from Irenaeus, Cyril of Jerusalem, and Cyril of Alexandria. This is more than history—it’s the story of the Spirit at work in the Church then and now.If you'd like to donate to our ministry or be a monthly partner that receives newsletters and one on one discussions with Dr. Boyce, here's a link: https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=6381a2ee-b82f-42a7-809e-6b733cec05a7 #Pentecost #Acts2 #HolySpirit #EarlyChurch #ChurchFathers #Patristics #FeastOfWeeks #ChristianHistory #BiblicalTheology #FACTSPodcast #Origen #Irenaeus #Tertullian #CyrilOfJerusalem #Augustine #ChristianFeasts #ChurchUnity #SpiritAndMission

Did Paul Write the Pastoral Epistles?
In this episode, we tackle one of the most contested questions in New Testament studies: Did the Apostle Paul really write 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus? While many modern scholars cast doubt on Pauline authorship, we take a closer look at both the internal evidence—style, vocabulary, and theological content—and the external evidence from early church tradition and manuscript testimony.Join me as I challenge the prevailing skepticism and make the case for the traditional view: that the Pastoral Epistles are not pseudonymous works but genuine letters from Paul himself. If you'd like to donate to our ministry or be a monthly partner that receives newsletters and one on one discussions with Dr. Boyce, here's a link: https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=6381a2ee-b82f-42a7-809e-6b733cec05a7 #PaulineAuthorship #PastoralEpistles #NewTestamentStudies #BiblicalScholarship #ApostlePaul #1Timothy #2Timothy #Titus #ChurchHistory #BiblicalCriticism #ChristianApologetics #DefendingTheFaith #EarlyChurch #TheologyPodcast #FACTS

Dancing with Heretics: Why Some Modern Protestants Are Embracing Ancient Heresies
In this episode, we explore a troubling trend among certain corners of modern Protestantism: the revival of ancient heresies long condemned by the Church. At the center of our discussion is Pelagius, the 5th-century British monk whose denial of original sin and distortion of grace led to one of the most decisive theological battles in Christian history. We’ll unpack Pelagius’s core teachings, examine Augustine’s powerful response, and trace how this controversy culminated in the Council of Ephesus (431), where Pelagianism was formally condemned as heresy. Along the way, we’ll consider how various popes weighed in on the controversy, especially Innocent I and Zosimus, and reflect on how some contemporary theological movements are unknowingly echoing these same ancient errors. This isn’t just about history—it’s about doctrine, grace, and the ongoing need for theological clarity. If the Church has already fought these battles, why are we dancing with heretics again today? If you'd like to donate to our ministry or be a monthly partner that receives newsletters and one on one discussions with Dr. Boyce, here's a link: https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=6381a2ee-b82f-42a7-809e-6b733cec05a7 ⸻#Pelagius #Pelagianism #OriginalSin #Augustine #CouncilOfEphesus #ChurchHistory #AncientHeresies #ProtestantTheology #ModernHeresy #ReclaimOrthodoxy #DancingWithHeretics #Soteriology #PopesOnPelagius #ChristianDoctrine #HistoricalTheology
