The 5 Money Personalities: Speaking the Same Love and Money Language with The Money Couple, Scott and Bethany Palmer
Money is the number one cause of friction between couples. Out of the 50% of marriages that end in divorce, 70% of them end because of financial issues. This is a staggering number, but money in marriage is not something we are taught to navigate, and we don't know how to show our kids a good example either. Today we have The Money Couple, Scott and Bethany Palmer on The Dad Edge. They are financial advisors who got tired of seeing their clients' marriages destroyed because of money. Together they wrote The 5 Money Personalities and The 5 Money Conversations to Have with Your Kids at Every Age and Stage. Scott and Bethany reveal the 5 money personalities, the reasoning behind each one, and how we can learn to work with our spouse's and our children's money personalities. They also discuss how harmful it is to argue about money in front of the kids and how to use money language to actually bring your marriage and family closer than ever before. (You'll also get a link at the end of the show to a money personality assessment for you and your whole family. Visit the show notes for the link to the test and receive a 19-page money personality report.) For the show notes and exclusive links mentioned in this episode go to gooddadproject.com/248. Do the Work: How to Stop the Cycle of Self-Sabotage with Gary John Bishop
Most of us are sabotaging ourselves without even knowing it. How can we become aware of the negative self-talk that's holding us back in life? And more importantly, how can we teach our kids to debunk their own self-limiting beliefs? In this episode, we have one of our most popular guests back just in time for 2020—the one and only Gary John Bishop. He's the NY Times Bestselling author of Unf*ck Yourself and Stop Doing That Sh*t. He was a speaker at The Dad Edge Summit 2018, and this is his 4th interview with us on The Dad Edge Podcast. Gary has just released a workbook to accompany Unf*ck Yourself called Do the Work, and he is going to make us do that work today! Gary talks about the three categories we need to address in life to break free from self-limiting beliefs. He tells us how to get real with our own bullsh*t and about how we interact with others. He also talks about why the idea of "finding" your purpose is flawed and what you really need to show up big in your life. If you're familiar with Gary John Bishop, you already know what's coming.
