Protecting Your Family from Gaming Addiction with Cam Adair
We are just beginning to understand the impact of video games on child development and behavior. Never has our culture been so immersed in gamification. Games like Minecraft and Fortnite have become part of social culture. The American Academy of Pediatrics has documented that violent videos games cause children to show a greater propensity to be aggressive in real life. Frequent gaming also results in poor grades and a difficult relationship with parents. So how can we protect our family from gaming addiction? Today we are grateful to have Cam Adair from GameQuitters.com back on The Dad Edge. He is a former gaming addict who now helps kids and their parents find solutions for gaming addiction. He tells us how we can set healthy limits and boundaries around video games, and what activities we can implement into our daily lives to make sure our kids are fulfilled and less susceptible to compulsive gaming. How to Get Anything You Want with Tony Stephan
What if you could have anything you want? Sounds crazy, right? Here's the truth—you CAN have anything you want. The problem is we run away from our fears instead of running toward our dreams. He is a registered dietician and nutrition coach who's been featured on Fox News, NBC, Huff Post, and Women's Health Magazine. His childhood was full of hardship and tragedy. Anyone would've understood if he felt sorry for himself and drifted through life, but his humble father gave him the secret to achieving what he thought was impossible. The Challenges of Being a Military Veteran Dad
Today we are focusing on military fathers. Before we get into the show, we thank you for serving our country and providing a safe place for us to raise our families. This episode is for you. Ben Killoy is a veteran and the host of the Military Veteran Dad Podcast and his mission is to bring every dad home. We're not just talking about being physically home. We're talking about the special challenges of being a military veteran dad. Servicemen are gone for long periods of time. The normal world continues while they're deployed, and their families learn to live without them. Once military dads return home, they lose their uniform and go from being Superman to Clark Kent overnight. It's a huge adjustment that can leave a soldier lost as to who he is and wondering how to become part of his family, workplace, and community again. Ben Killoy talks about how military fathers can readjust to family life, become great leaders in their circle of influence, and leave a lasting legacy for their kids.
