Diego - Evil Books, Opioids, Crack and Heroin
Today’s guest on the show is Diego. The other day I was walking to Washington Square Park looking to meet some content creators but they weren’t there. There was schedule mix up because Instagram’s algorithm gave me an old post and I thought the meet up was that day, I was wrong. On my walk back home I ended on Houston Street. As I was walking, I walked past Diego is sitting on the corner. He had a sign that read he was homeless as well as a change cup by his feet. As I turned the corner a little voice popped into my head and told me to invite Diego on the podcast. After a bit of persuasion, he was down for the recording and even offered me a piece of cardboard to sit on. I sat down. In this episode Diego and I talk about evil books, opioids, crack, heroin, coffee, and the misconceptions of being homeless. About halfway through the conversation he started smoking Spice or K2 or Synthetic Weed. Boo Mitchell - Memphis Serendipity, Uptown Funk and Royal Studios
Last week I spent about a week in Memphis, Tennessee capturing Sun Studios, Graceland, Stax and of course the legendary Beale Street. On the last day of the assignment, we wrapped shooting at around 1am and I had the opportunity kick with it Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell in a parking outside of a spot called Beauty Shop. It’s crazy because about an hour before meeting Boo, I was talking to my friend Jay about the podcast and he immediately started talking about how I should get Boo on show. He said he’d set it up and in my mind, I thought this would take month to make happen. Meaning I’d catch Boo when I was back in the city because I had to fly out in on the morning. Shortly after that conversation, guess who walks through the door? Yup you guessed it, Boo. I told the story to Boo and he said, “We call that Memphis serendipity”. In this episode we talk about the early days of Royal Studios, wearing the hat of a producer, the false feel, putting love in the cooking, Uptown Funk, and much more. I’m outta here, enjoy the talk.
