Podcast with Jennifer Xiong- On Morning Miracles, Mindfulness, Compassion
Jennifer Xiong graduated from UCLA with a Master of Public Health in Community Health Sciences with a specialization in Health Education/Promotion and holds a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from UC Davis. Early on Jennifer became interested in public health through her first-hand experience as a child of immigrant refugees who had barriers navigating the healthcare systems in the U.S. She is passionate about health and wellness, creating leaders, mindfulness, transformation, and inspiring authentic and purposeful living. Currently, she is a Health Educator/Teacher and enjoys teaching about health and nutrition to school-age children. Jennifer has been on her mindfulness journey personally for 10 years. As a child, she was sensitive, intuitive, creative, and empathetic. She had always had a keen interest in seeking deeper inner truth, however, she did not have resources nor an outlet to support that desire. Hence, when the practice of mindfulness was introduced to her a decade ago as an adult in her first therapy session, it opened a whole new world of possibilities and clarity. Since then she has immersed herself into any work and books about mindful living. Her vision for the world is creating a safe environment where everyone can be authentic to reach their highest potential.

Melody Allen- On Emotional Healing, Reiki, Meditation, Trauma
Melody Allen has devoted years of study to healing arts. She has practiced meditation of over 15 years, and I have been practicing Reiki since 2016, and is currently a Reiki Master. She is passionate about healing the mind and the body, and have found that using both is key to healing when we feel stuck. Emotional pain can and does manifest in physical pain, and many times the areas pain is found in the body has a symbolic expression to the emotions stuck there. She started her own healing journey because she wanted to free herself from the pain of her childhood trauma.
Over the past few years, she has become very interested in finding her life purpose. Around the same time, she found her Reiki Mentor and teacher. She felt really lost and started praying and asking God to show her what her life purpose was, and she has been guided ever since. She found that Reiki works really well at healing the body and letting go of stuck emotions, but she wanted to know how to guide people to their highest purpose. That’s when she discovered how to do Life Purpose Readings.

Sam Miller- On Depression, Healing, Self-Awareness
Samuel Miller is a writer and photographer who comes from a large family. He grew up outside Chicago, performing in any way he could during school: plays, choir, musicals, band. Throughout high school, he worked three jobs every summer and saw every movie he could. He studied film at Columbia College and drove a plow truck in the winters. He’ll tell anyone about the pizza in Chicago, so don’t get him started. Having lived in Los Angeles for ten years now, he’s not only writing and taking pictures, but he also volunteers at 826LA and works with UnleaSHE to promote self-empowerment. He cares a great deal about mental health and dispelling the stigma of depression. Also, relevant to photography he loves talking about what it means to see someone or to be seen. Vulnerability, embracing imperfection.

Dakota Yarrington- On Health, Discipline and Embracing Failures
Dakota Yarrington, a.k.a. Dakota Crave(because he absolutely Craves Life) has always had a bigger vision than himself, and makes others goals— his goals! When he’s not hiking, biking or filling his relationship full of love, he’s helping other people transform their lives in Health | Fitness | Mindset. He grew up in an average household where he was told to go to school, get a degree in college and work hard. He didn’t know what that(going to college) looked liked because no one had ever completed college in his family or had a good relationship with money.
Eventually, he did—what he was told. He worked hard, and graduated from college— but he was unemployable. His American Dream model didn’t fit his personality so growing up he was always the odd one. And, Dakota’s vision is to transform the world impacting one person’s life at a time.

Monday Morning- Navigating through Anxiety and Depressive feelings
I had never felt like this on Monday Morning.
I laid in bed for almost 2 hours feeling very weird, miserable and didn't know exactly what I was feeling.
I had only heard and read about situations when people feel a lack of motivation to not go to work because of so-many-reasons.
I got up, picked up my journal and filled in 7 pages. I wanted to capture it in my voice as well so that people who(sometimes) feel the same on Monday Morning. know that- they are not alone.
This is my first attempt to capture, in my morning raw voice, what I was feeling.
"Practice courage over comfort and confidence"- Brene Brown
"There are two sides of a pendulum"- Anthony De Mello
I reminded myself of these quotes(above). We have the power to feel good. We can make this choice to feel good at any moment. We can choose to give positive meaning to any troublesome moments.
It's up to us to decide to move forward in life no matter what happens.
You are not alone. It's OK to feel depressed and negative, and be aware of it so that you can do something about it.
